I have started the new group, it's called Alumni PIR 12/17/10. We don't have to have any activity on it, obviously until after PIR, but just thought I would put it on here.

Here is the link to it: http://www.navyformoms.com/group/alumnipir121710

I am thinking it would be a great idea to start an alumni group for our PIR group. Would anyone be interested in joining it? We have all become so close, that I would love to try and keep our connection and friendships after our recruits move on to the next phase of Navy life.

Susan, jfarm & lukesgirl ((hugs)) to you. I have many of the same thoughts (A is my youngest of 5) and totally understand. The one thing that really keeps me going is all of you. You were there with me through the DEP process and now through the BC process. I expect that even though our recruits are going on to different phases after BC, we will all still be there for each other. I love you all and the laughter, tears, support and comfort that I have been given by all of you is what keeps me going. We will all cry for sure, but we will have each other at the end of the day, to help us through it. :)

lukesgirl, I hope you feel better soon. ((hugs))

tysmom, I'm happy for your e-mail. :)

TysMom and jfarm - My son is my oldest and then I have a daughter who is a senior and will be going away to college next year and then thankfully I have a 5th grader. I can't believe we pour our hearts and souls into these kids then they just up and leave us :) lol. Susan

Not feeling the greatest today..I think I'm getting the flu :(..I guess I can be greatful I'm getting it now, instead of next week. Lol isn't it funny how we put things like being sick on the backburner these days, when all we can think about is our sailors graduating?! Haha. As long as I'm feeling better in a few days, I don't think much can get me down now. :)
As for all of you moms on here, I completely know what you're talking about, I broke down at work the other day to some co-workers and everything hit me, I don't even have luke home with me yet and I'm already nervous to take him to the airport the day after christmas. :( the future seems scary when you don't have contact with your sailor, but I'm trying to be as thankful as possible right now, in order to not be a ball of tears til I see my sailor.
(P.S. - something no one on here knows about me, I have 7 tattoos so far, and when luke comes home, I'm getting another one; an anchor, to show my love and support for him) :)
Keep your heads up ladies!! Were ONE DAY CLOSER!! Wooooo! :)

jfarm and N4MSusan, I can certainly relate as well. I'm so excited and so happy at just the thought of seeing my son next Friday....what a happy time that will be for all of us. But there have been, are, and will be so many tears. My son will come back with us on the 17th and fly back out to school on the 21st so I won't have him HERE with me on Christmas. But I don't want to let the worry of that overshadow my time with him while he IS here. We'll be having Christmas early and am so thankful for that time! jfarm, I now have an empty house so I know what you mean! It's been me and my two boys for 12 years now (the older 25 and a grad student) and for the last 7 years just me and my recruit. I've cried many tears realizing that my youngest now is making his life and it's just gonna be me and my cat! The boys tease me and tell me I'm going to be known as the "cat lady that lives down the street". So here I am....trying my best to do what I tell my recruit in every letter I write him.....stay strong and stay positive....and I hope you ladies do the same! We're leaving on Thursday too! Happy travels to you!

Aww jfarm! Glad to know I am not alone on my emotional rollercoaster! Susan

I know just how you feel, Susan. I cry b/c I'm proud of my son, cry b/c I'm so anxious to see him next week, cry b/c he leaves the day after Christmas & don't know when he'll come home again. Then I cry b/c my daughters are getting older everyday & then they'll leave me, too. Sometimes I cry b/c then it will just be me & the hubby alone together....all of the time. Lol! (just kidding). I just have to make jokes & not dwell on the other stuff.
Aside from crying while I typed this, I'm having a great day. We leave next Thursday, driving to Illinois! Can't wait!!

I've been crying all morning thinking about seeing my son next week. Then I started thinking about when he leaves Dec 27 and cried harder. Then I thought about how this might be that last Christmas in a long time when we are all together. Then I started thinking about all the families who will be without their soldiers and sailors this year. Then I started thinking about all the families who have lost their soldiers and sailors. Then I thought about D-Day. Well, let's just say I haven't cried this hard since he left on Oct. 25. Wow! It's amazing how our minds work, lol. I hope all of you are having a wonderful day :) 7 DAYS!

Got to work today and logged into email and what did I have? ANOTHER CONFIRMATION ON MY TRAVEL PLANS! LOL Oh what fun I'm having now!!! Funny how a letter in your mailbox, an email confirmation or a call from a friend (thanks, Jan) will make you feel! Ladies, we're now at 7 days and a wake up!!! Excitement is in the air!!!! Gosh, Great Lakes may NEVER be the same!
