Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

After you've secured your seats, I've seen moms with their young ones in a clear area under the bleachers where the bathrooms are and there is a museum right before you get to the ceremony hall.

Comment by Cristina on December 1, 2015 at 10:04am: Good morning moms, do any of you have experience in going to PIR with a toddler? Our two year old is not what you would call a calm child. Any time something disrupts his routine schedule he has a very hard time adjusting. I was wondering if there is a place before the ceremony starts where he can walk around a bit? Any other toddlers going to PIR? Thank you.

So hopefully your son will do well in this new PIR group....and I sure hope there is a way you can still get there for the new PIR date.

Comment by texasmom79 on November 30, 2015 at 10:52pm: I don't know the name of the test he did tell me on Thanksgiving he took it last week and failed and would take it again if not pass he would be set back 2 week or so he did say it was multiple choice test, and he had not studded much for it.He was going to ship 11 div045 so ill be lleaving this group just hard I don't know if ill be able to go to his PIR on the 31th of Dec. My brother was cuting the cost with me but he will not be able to go that date...

Just hard when thay are hurting my son so far away I fell helpless, and I know he is so home sick, now going in with a new Div.

I know God plan id bigger than ours im mailing him a letter first thing in the morning full of encouragement
