N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

BeckyP:  Welcome back !  So neat that your sons share so much of the "same things" in Bootcamp!

mtg4life:  Yes. you can write to your SR with the recruiter's address but be sure to check it with the form letter address when it arrives to make sure it is the same one.  Sometimes their division is moved to another ship, so the address changes.  I hope that you celebrate his birthday BIG TIME after PIR!  What a celebration it will be!

Hello everyone,  This is son #2 that I've sent off to BC.

This website was a blessing to me the first time around - I don't think I could have made it without all of the wonderful support of others going through the same thing.  I thought this time around would be a piece of cake - how wrong was I!!!  I think it might have even been harder this time.

My son in is Ship 6 (same ship# as his brother 6 years ago - and a PIR date 4 days later than his brother's -  how cool is that?) Div 040.   We are fortunate enough to only live a few hours from GL so will be spending Thanksgiving with him.

If this is your first time - hang in there!  It's always comforting knowing there is someone else out there that knows exactly how you are feeling.  Only another Navy mom can understand.

Have a great evening.

Greetings All,

I have no idea where to begin.  My son left last Mon and I am at a loss.  I know he is ok I just want to hear from him.  I got his address from the recruiter.  Is it ok to write him? Today is his birthday and my family and I are a little sad because we couldn't wish him a happy birthday.

The Sailors may use their cell phones (computers, tablets) on Liberty.

The hotel is a good place. They are not allowed to be on their phones while walking around in public.

The new Sailors will be given a thorough debriefing before they go out on Liberty about the rules they are expected to follow.

Beth,

Nope, can't give your Sailor any personal items while staying at any hotel.  These items must be passed to them at the airports or shipped to them later if someone is unable to meet their Sailor at the airports.

For those Sailors attending A school in Great Lakes, they are allowed to have personal items after they have changed from the RTC side to the A school side of the base, which happens during the afternoon of PIR~~

What about at the Navy Lodge if she's there with us? No cell one there either?

Anybody else on here with kids on ship 12 or division 41? I am kinda wishing he was more musically talented so he could have been in one of the 900 divisions.

I just got my letter also!! I haven't been that excited to open a piece of mail since I got my very first letter.
