N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

OH! Have I got a  story! Woke up at 2AM  get to the airport that's an 1 1/2 away to catch our flight to Ohare. Get to Chicago, get to hotel...all the time asking my husband if his cell is on, because I forward the house phone. We go to an early dinner at the hotel restaurant...His cell rings! It's in his coat pocket. We didn't get to it soon enough....IT IS MY SR!!! NO!!!!!! I lost it in the middle of the restaurant, my husband has started planning to sleep with one eye open. Then, my cell phone rings!! I jumped on that like a hot potato on a snowy day (get it?)!  SR asks questions about when we're supposed to fly in, I'm asking if there is reason for us to fly in. Non-chalantly, "Oh yeah, I passed everything". Like it's no big deal!!! We've got a sailor!! So, that was my day, how was yours?? Div 042

jrose, you won't want to send anything to them at this late date, they would not get it. But for hand delivering, or later in school, it might be SA instead of SR, or something else depending on their rate.

CatMom509, I do not know his mother, she is a non-participant mother. He sees her very seldom. He lived with his Dad, who does a lot of international travel for work. The only communication I have with him is via FB, and he has not stated anything if his son was able to reach him. He is currently in Asia.

Annette,

You're not friendly with the SR's mom?  There must be someone you can get some info from?  Do you have his address to personally write to him?  Or does your son?  If you're that close to him and care, I hope someone will share his Navy journey with you~~
