This is the final test for your recruits.  When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

Just wanted to drop in and say "I Miss You All" My Sailor is home on leave till May 5th then he will be off to Sasebo Japan....I am just focusing on the positive right now. He is home. In and out of his room. The best thing is I love to hear his laugh ....it makes me smile and makes my heart happy too. :) Going to enjoy it while I can. I know it's time for him at the age of 20,  but as a mother, you never really let them go, you just make them think you have. {{{Hugs}}}

Back again and I miss being on here!!!!

Life is Peachy...... I had a great time also and it was wonderful to get to chat face to face.  I am glad you loved the pizza.  If anyone is looking for a great place for pizza while visiting GL Bill's Pizza and Pub in Mundelein is the place to go.  The double decker is to die for.  We always go there for pizza when we are out that way.

My son said the AC is on now at Corry Station and is now happy.  He isn't used to the extreme humidity that Pensacola has to offer.  He loves the warmth and sunshine though and is looking forward to Phase 3 where he can actually go to the beach in a swimsuit!!  Classes are real tough right now and spends most of his time studying after class and on Sundays.  He says Saturday's are his "free" time to goof off and have some fun with his fellow shipmates.

Still doesn't get much sleep.  Has had watch and roving several times and than has PT several times a week at 4am than they march to school at 7am and get out right now at 4pm.  Eventually they are changing the times from 7am-2pm because they feel the classes are too long.  He said he misses the easy life of High School when the lowest score he got on a test was 98%.  I laughed and told him that he is now in the "BIG" world.  He said he has never studied so much in his entire life as he is now and it is a huge challenge for him.  If my son says it is hard than it must be hard. His rate wasn't ment to be easy and was ment to be challenging.

Weather here is enough to give anyone whiplash.  We had 75-85 degree weather last weekend and beautiful weather up until yesterday.  Now for the weekend they are forecasting rain/snow and windy colder temps.  I am so ready for a trip to Pensacola to visit my son right now.

William.. that will be a great moment to see him again!

Ame7..... I still stop on this site first to see how everyone is doing.  yes its hard to believe it has already been 2 months, almost like another boot camp time frame.  Hope you enjoy your visit, the weather will be much nicer this time! :)

My son will be heading to SanAntonio the 22nd of this month.  He will be attending HM school.  Where he started in Spec Opps was not the place where he decided he wanted to be so we he got re-classified and well.. here we are!  He is very happy with his decision and that in turn makes "mama" happy too!  Plus he will be much closer to me too!  :)

May 11th lets do a 3 month reunion here?

My wife and I along with our other son will be visiting Goose Creek in five weeks to visit my son at nuclear A school. We are driving his car down from New Hampshire to give it to him, then flying back.   By that time he will be halfway through his A school, which is six months long.  That will be the first time our Sailor has seen any of his family since we dropped him off at the recruiter last December 11th.

Hello Everyone!  It's been awhile since I posted here.  Everything is status quo with my son.  He's still training and doing very well.  I just visited him this past weekend and it was great!  He looks so much better and healthier than he did at PIR and we just had a really nice visit with each other.

Also met up with Himmiemom for lunch and it was great to have that face time to spend with a fellow PIR mom!!!  And boy Himmie - that pizza was delicious!

Hard to believe that so many people are getting orders already.  Seems like just yesterday they all left home for BC.  I wish all your Sailors the best in their journey's!!

Like many others, due to OPSEC Rules, I cannot report much more than I do about my son, so please forgive me if I am vague!

Hope everyone is doing well! My son is now in Groton and today was his first day of BESS (basic enlisted sub school).  He volunteered for a memorial ceremony this past Sunday, that honors all the subs the US has lost.  He got to hold the flag for the "Texas Seawolf", said it was awesome.  The boat USS Providence returned from deployment on Friday, and he missed it.  He is doing well. We are planning a trip to Groton May/June for his BESS graduation, short visit, and deliver his car to him.  He will be in Groton for about a year.  Hope everybody is doing great.  I still stop in daily and read, but really enjoy the facebook page.

Yep...this is still my first stop when I log on and then I go on to my other groups.  I am biting my nails waiting for my son to call.  He's in his last week of school at GL and then off to Japan.  He is suppose to call me today with his dates of leave to come home.  I am doing the phone (or mail) dance like we did when they were in bootcamp!  I'm so excited...I could BURST!!

I can't believe it's been two months since graduation.  I think of that day all of the time and that wonder feeling as we sat there in the bleachers waiting for our sailors to walk through those doors!!

Yes William, we are going through a Realtor.

One other thing....it is nice coming back here to see what everyone is up to.  It is like "home" like someone said.  Its a little sad that there is only a dozen or so posts for the past couple weeks.  (During BC, there were a dozen posts every hour!)  But I guess we move on.  Still, I like coming back to the familiar names and pics on here and FB Navy family group.

Hi Navy Family....two months today was that glorious day we got to see our loved ones at PIR!  I'll never forget it...or the 9+ weeks we got to know each other during boot camp.  My Sailor finished ATT and finally classed up last week!  She will be in A-school at Great Lakes until August.  She was roaming Chicago this past weekend with some shipmates, which makes me nervous.  LOVE being able to talk, chat, text, etc. Definitely need the unlimited plan these days!  We're planning a visit with her at GL over Easter weekend.  Life is good.
