This is the final test for your recruits. When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

Oh, my letter was dated 29/Dec/2010...
My SR also mentioned his PO saw one of my posts on Navy Moms... so, they definitely DO keep track... So glad I only have good stuff to say and tried to learn the "rules" before posting a lot!! I wish I could tell him NOW that I have gotten his letters and so did his sister!!
I am SOOOOO happy! Got a letter today and my SR is doing well. But the best news is that he accepted Jesus into his life! WOW!! His bio-dad is agnostic, but our family have been pretty strong Christians (non-judgmental, I like to say) since he was 5... I never forced him to be a big part of church, and we always had good "God" talks... I was a bit sad that he wasn't closer to God when he left for RTC... So YEAH Bootcamp and YEAH NAVY for allowing our SRs to attend church while there!!
It was at a gospel church on December 26th that he "officially accepted Jesus"> I wept tears of joy after an awful week when I read those words! Then I called my spiritual mentor, Nancy, who LOVES my SR and who he LOVES and then got to go to worship team rehearsal to tell them! We had a big PRAISE moment over that!!! He said he hopes to call this Sunday - which was the 2nd... so maybe THIS Sunday, which is the 9th.
I received several pages today. Most is personal and not for sharing (sorry everyone). All in all he seems to be getting along well and his spirits are up. Said the days where he doesn't get mail, are the most difficult.
One thing he mentioned, that I do want to share, is not to print off FaceBook pages and mail them. Apparently if seen with them, they get into trouble. Said to write what needs to be relayed. I have been writing to him saying so-and-so posted >instert message< on your wall, and never thought to just print the page. So glad I didn't!
I GOT THE CALL!!!!! My SR called me at work and I got to talk for 45 minutes. I am so relieved and it felt wonderful to hear his voice which was very upbeat and full of humor. He is loving boot camp and is finding it easy. The RDC's in his division are great and they don't yell like the other divisions. His division is the only all male division also.
He was sick with ear infections this week and went to get antibiotics and got to sleep for a day. He is feeling much better now.
His favorite thing is marching and least is night watch. He loves the Crab Alfredo when they have it. He hates the boots, but are slowly breaking in and he loves the blue camouflage uniforms. They have been wearing them a lot. He said out of a scale from 1-10 his division is up to a 6 in teamwork. So things are coming along just like they are suppose to.
Delicate flower....Your SR and my SR talk a lot and have become friends now. I had other names of SR in his division, but he didn't know the first names because they go by the last names.
deesmadre...My SR is pretty sure he knows your SR, but he said there is another SR from N Mexico also so he will find out those two's first names to let me know if it is your SR.
He had is initital job pulled from him due to color blindness and has a list of 20 jobs he qualifies for. He is thinking about doing Hospital Corpsman. He will put in for it Monday and hopefully there is a job opening. So please keep your fingers crossed for him. He has two other back up jobs in place too.
Right now he is an E2 and based on learning progress in boot camp he my go up higher by PIR. He has passed all of his test so far.
He said something to me that wasn't in his first letter home that really scared me. He said by the 4th day he wanted to quit and come home. He had talked to several RDC's and other shipmates and through their encouragement and kind voices he stuck with it and loves it now. He loves his RDC's and says they have excellent knowledge and understanding but also a sense of humor and discipline all in one.
