This is the final test for your recruits.  When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

I LOVE THESE, Mikki!  They look AWESOME!!  Can you post where the fleece is on sale, for others making the scarves?  Can you post the picture in the SCARVES discussion as well?

one more thing about the scarves - the yellow in the picture looks pale, but it is not. it is a deeper yellow, just a bit lighter than the yellow shirts the SR's wear for PT (in the video posted on NFM)

oh yeah, the ribbon cost as much as the fleece. the other colors had some really neat choices of ribbons and trim, but there was very little in the lavender section.

the picture of the scarves I made are below. ship 09 div 069 is lavender - which looked really bad with the yellow. The ribbon I bought has black on both sides of the lav. the scarves are fleece (on sale for 3.99 yd - great price). they are 5" wide by about 52 inches long. scarf on right is single layer, just cut with ribbon sewn down middle and ends fringed. scarf on left is sewn into a double layer, ribbon sewn down middle then sides slit to the ribbon. I fluffed it in the dryer for a few minutes to get it to puff a bit.

BEACHBUM - some of the other moms from ship 09 (USS John F Kennedy) Div 069 meet on another group    http://www.navyformoms.com/Ship

it's been helpful on sorting out what our own SR's are doing. We all got letters for the first time yesterday. Seems that these SRs are being punished and were not allowed to phone home yet - if they are good, maybe this sunday. Also, they've been pulling night guard duty and having to shovel a lot of snow.

I had not posted or even been on the site since Christmas, was making me too sad...but we finally got a letter yesterday, he sounds good, misses everyone told me to not be sad, that what he is doing is all good, he sounds so strong! Did not mention any negatives, has made friends, passed his swimming test. I hope he gets to call home soon, I have so many questions and I don't think he will be a long detailed writer! I cannot wait for 2/11/11!!!

I recommend not sending anything with glitter (as it makes a mess), nothing with sound, and only white envelopes.
