This is the final test for your recruits.  When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

sailorsgirl4ever:  I agree with diannep ... be careful.  My recruit sent explicit instructions NOT to send any musical or voice cards once she got there ---

himmiemom:  I think the final deal is that ribbons are up to you.  lalaribbonqueen and aprul are both making ribbons and have discussions posted.  For scarves, we've decided to go with bright yellow for all N4M.  Then, if you want to intertwine your division color into it with either a strip of material or another scarf, that's up to you.  But every N4M will have a yellow one.  I know that Lexsmom and Mikki are going to be working on some examples this week and will post in the SCARVES FOR PIR 2/11/11 discussion above.

ame:  HAAA!  HAPPY DANCE is performed for mail AND phone calls received!  Maybe with just slight variations!  :-)

sailorsgirl4ever:  It is all up to his particular RDC's.  We normally suggest that you NOT send cards, especially ones that play music or record voices, because they can get harrassed for those.  But again, up to the RDC's.  Some say it is worth the harrassment to hear their loved ones' voices...so it is up to you!  I saw in one group where they are sending large manilla envelopes with stationery and envelopes/stamps for their recruits...and the recruits told family that was fine.  So again...up to the RDC's on what they allow and don't.  Our rule of thumb is not to draw attention to the mail you send your recruit.

Thanks for the info! I just searched up the closest Navy Support Center in my area!

I received another letter today! Yay! And he did mention that he got my letters on Dec 23rd.

Btw, does anyone know how long mail will take coming from CA to Chicago?

Okay,  off the subject right now.... Has anything been finalized with the whole scarf thing and ribbon thing????

My daughter will probably think that all of us N4M have a crying issue. (hahaha).  It truly made her sad to see me cry and I feel bad that she feels that way.  She is a very sensitive kid and truly cares about people.  My daughter is a very sweet girl.

himmiemom.....I second that vote...your daughter is designated tissue box holder.  I wish you could bring your cat along too.  LOVE the expression on his/her feline face.
