This is the final test for your recruits. When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

BBwinthemoon = I am so happy for you!!!! The letter being addressed to Mommy is too sweet!
I received two letters today. My son had his wisdom teeth out on 12/22 and said he was ok but didn't like having bed rest for two days or the swollen cheeks. His next letter was dated 12/26 and he was a bit sad because he had not received one piece of mail yet and said he is the only one in his compartment who has not received mail. I know I have mailed so many letters that I lost count and other family has written him as well. I sure hope he receives mail this week so he can rest assured that we have all been writing. It was really hard to read this!!! I'm going to be positive though, and expect that next week's letter will say - DANG I think you all write too much!
BB.....I could not be happier, as I was not sure if I was doing the Mail Dance for your last night or the stop raining dance....Super news....Can not imagine be bored in the 800 Div which is Special Ops. Maybe he watched to many Navy Special Ops Video's before leaving and that action is still down the road.
I got my first letter! WOO HOO!! Happy Dance! Mine was 2 full pages (Naval Training Center official stationary (-: Actually, he sent 3 - one to me and step-dad, one to his sister, and one to his best friend!
He seems to be doing well! It was written on Christmas Eve. He said they had "Holiday Routine" from 0700 to 1300 Friday and Sunday but not on Christmas (seems odd)... He said the RDCs lightened up a bit on the 23rd and joked some. He's learned the "paionstaking procedure" of precise folding and rackmaking. He also says "idle time is study time"!
He is his division's Sewing PO (I taught him how to sew patches a while ago) so he is responsible for sewing all 78 recruit's clothes if they rip. He is also the "damage control" PO.
He says they are tough, and he's gotten IT 2 times, once for talking in the galley and once for putting deoderant in his pocket instead of his left hand! He also got an "Atta Boy" for being proactive with repairs!
He said they've only had one two mile run and it killed him, but he passed his swim test easily!! Woo hoo!
I am on cloud 9!
Can you all see me doing the DANCE????? Got my first letter! So here goes, for those of you wondering, it is on Navy stationary, the envelope has the seal blacked out and is dated 12/25. He did not write XXXX Family, or MRS. XXXXX, on the front address he wrote, "Mommy" that made me laugh so hard I think I was crying. He says it sucks, still board (i still don't get how) they have check points to look forward to like pay day and battlestations which is FEB 3!!!! He said that he never thought that he would look forward to sleeping in until 6a.m. but he is now after waking up at 3:45-4 every morning. He said we can use his buddies name for extra PIR tickets. I could tell that he got at least my first letter because he wanted to know who I told when he left.
OH MY I am so happy to finally have heard from him, thank you all so much for the support and encouragement everyone has been amazing!!!!
