This is the final test for your recruits.  When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

I spent a lot of time checking diffrent groups last night.  I think "NO NEWS is GOOD NEWS"  should be the official MFMs motto....lol.  I continue to pray that he does well and continues on track for PIR of 2/11/11.

Christmas day he asked for more stamps, (I had sent him  a book) but i've only received one letter from him.  LOL he is probably writing his friends......I think in tonights letter I will insert a form letter of my own, so he only has to fill in the blanks....lol

Still no letter from my son to me nor to his wife. And I havent seen other 09/069 families share letter info. I know I hear "no news is good news" but that is not very reassuring. It can also mean a lot of other things, like no news means they are in trouble and not given time to write.... or, am I just being a worrywort?

Lexsmom...sounds like your daughter is doing well. Like the comment about her "snack pack" needing to be turned into a "six pack".    My son told me that they got a lot of snow on Christmas Eve most of it was lake effect snow.  We actually were pretty close to GL that evening and the roads were pretty icy and slick.  It wasn't snowing that bad though.

My son also said that there is a lot of IT and PT for everyone too in his division.  Apparently there are several recruits that are "talkers".  I talk a lot, so it must be hard to not talk to someone especially when you are homesick and just wanting to talk to someone.

Did she say why her division lost some recruits?  Just curious.  They lost 3 in my sons and he said one was dropped due to some kind of fraud of some sort.

Good news from my girl. She passed her swim test, PFA and the DEP tests! She said they lost 6 females and 2 males in Div 067 & 068 so far.She said she has received tons of letters from everyone. (11 letters on Dec 23rd alone!) She loves church service and the outside marching is great because it gets her outside of the ship. She said there was close to 3 feet of snow on the ground , And she said her Petty Officer is going to turn her "snack pack into a six pack" HOORAH! Lots of IT and PT for Div 067 and 068 until all attitudes are on point. She said MCPON West came and talked to her Div 067 and her brother Div 068. She said it was really COOL and not many people can say they have done that.

There was lots more in her letters, too much to tell...She is happy with her performance so far and can't wait for her PIR!

Good evening everyone...Would you believe it was almost 41 degrees today!!! Snow is melting and it felt good to wear a lighter coat today.  Although the weekend weather isn't to pretty though.  Rain and Ice mixture.  Maybe the snow will disappear though.

Dorrio....Hang in there. I know you are probably tired of everyone telling you the same thing over and over again, but we are all here for you.  I just got my letters yesterday which was day 20.  I will be sending out those mail vibes for you and everyone else who hasn't gotten a letter yet.

battlebuddy & halfpintl...don't pull your hair out!!! Your recruit won't recognize you at PIR.

It is amazing how many recruits had their wisdom teeth pulled.  Wonder if the person pulling is learning how to be a dentist?  My son went to the dentist a week before he left for boot camp for a good cleaning and the dentist took xrays and couldn't find any wisdom teeth.  Lucky for him. I had mine pulled couple years ago and it wasn't that bad.

Have a cute story for everyone.  My daughter wrote her brother a letter last night without anyone telling her to.  She is 9 and well to make a long story short this morning I had to go to the post office to mail out a letter to my son and my daughter was waiting with a folded up piece of paper.  I asked her what it was and she said it was a letter for her brother.  She didn't want me to read the letter and after begging her to let me she gave in.  I started reading the letter which was normal up until the end and she wrote: "We got your letters today and mommy read them to me.  When she was reading them she was crying.  I don't know how to help her.  I feel bad that she is sad."  Now, I obviously started to cry and at that point she said "This is exactly why I didn't want you to read my letter.  When you cry I don't know what I am suppose to do".  I had to let her know that the tears were sad tears because I missed him, but they were also happy tears.  She than told me that I needed to get my emotions straight.

Thought you guys could use a little chuckle.

Himmie@   AWESOME!!!!  I am so happy to hear U so chipper !  LOL

I am still out of town on vacation and my mail is being held, I am hoping when I get back there are a few letters waiting for me as I continue to re read the one  from  Christmas Eve,,,, no calls yet on my end.

Someone from 804 Division mentioned their son said they are getting coached for swims? or something along that... can you explain that? I was wondering about that since they are a different  group who needs these times to qualify!  Thanks.

Hope all are doing well and please keep sharing those letters.. I have enjoyed hearing...Once I get back from vacation it will be easier to be on here and follow more...I miss being having this site up 24/7 to check postings.  ;(

My Sailor's grandparents got a letter today, they live close and I dont, so maybe I'll get one tomorrow.  He said again that he was eating a lot, listed the whole Christmas dinner menu (which he thought was GREAT), told them there was a lot more studying than he thought there would be, and there was still so much to learn in the time left.  Also said again that time seemed to be going slow even thought they are really busy, he was homesick, and really missed his family.  He's really social, and I think the "no talking" rule is probably worse than the PT and all the other stuff! :-) .  Wonder if that rule lets up in the later weeks? Probably not......
