This is the final test for your recruits.  When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

No letter today!!! Poor daughter is getting sad.  She runs out to that mailbox no matter what the weather is like only to open it and find still no letter. She comes back into the house and says maybe tomorrow mommy.  Yep, maybe tomorrow.

I just want everyone to know hearing your news makes me feel a little better and gives me some connection to what is going on right now with my son.  Keep the good news coming guys.

I know other moms in my sons division haven't gotten mail either or a phone call but our time will come to share our news too.

My son called on Christmas morning and said he had 15 minutes to talk, after about 3 minutes, we heard yelling in the back ground and he said, "I gotta go, love you!"

Today my husband and I received 4 letters, and each of my other 2 sons also received a letter.  Our son is doing well at boot camp!  As the time goes on, boot camp is getting easier because they know what's going on and everyone is in the groove.  He said the same things I've heard others have said - the "peanut butter" shot hurt, the food is good, they don't get a lot of sleep.  They practice making their rack, uniform inspections, super fast showers and they can't talk unless they are spoken to.  He said he hasn't had a real conversation since Dec. 6th - the day he left for boot camp!

Can't wait for Feb. 11th!

Have to share this...kinda funny story. My husband brought me a big fat letter from my daughter today at work. I was sooo excited! He said I better  not read it at work because I would be sobbing like last week after I read her letters.

No, are you kidding me, wait to read this huge bit of news from my daughter! So I open it and get all prepared to read, God love her, she sent me all the papers she had with her and put a few lines with it saying; "Mom and Dad, this is some paperwork we got. Figure you can hold on to it for me since my A & B Drawer has limited space. Thanks, Love my SR"

Really? Apparently she has not gotten my letters prior to sending this, or she would know we literally live by the US Mail deliveries!

Thought this would make you smile today!

NavyPops - it sounds abut right.  My son wrote me a letter on the 14th and commented that he was excited that they were finally going to get some mail Sunday and get to send mail Sunday as well.  I don't know if it is protocol, but I have realized that by the time you get their address and mail something out to them, two weeks could easily pass by.

YAY for everyone who got letters today and calls over the weekend! Keep posting. I love getting the "inside" scoop...

We'll...I am at work and the mailman came by and what do you know...2 letters were in the mail...YEAH! So you all should be receiving something soon! I mean I live in Texas and they made it all the way down here. I am sending lots of prayers your way and hope you all get letters soon!

So I will share a few words...he is ready to leave not because it is hard but because he misses our son and me. Most of his division is 18-21 and he is 28! He is Master at Arms so he said it has ups and downs...up is first in chow line down is when the other recruits dont listen or cant remember things he gets in trouble. He said it is cold but with all the gear it is not too bad. He asked how things were on the home front and if I could hand write letters so their more personal...well i would but he doesnt know I hurt my writing wrist so typed letters only! He says he is working hard so he gets phone calls...well it paid off because I have received two besides the I am here call! Then said some personal stuff to our son and me...it is so bittersweet and I am so grateful for everything he is doing for us! Just cant wait till he is done and we can move with him!

Good luck to all the SR's and hope all of you get letters soon! PIR 2-11-11 cant come soon enough!

Got my letters today. Actually 3 in total. She has been writing everyday saving them up until she could send them. Seems like it gets better everyday. Says she can't wait til February. She says the food is good but not like momma's lol. Just glad I got to hear from her.
