This is the final test for your recruits.  When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

Take heart, Battlebuddy--- we haven't received any 'real letters' yet either, other than the Form-letter... really miss our Son alot also, esp. as Christmas draws near... but I have this Good feeling today that we will hear from our sons soon! They have the same ship & div.#, so maybe they became friends!  It's hard for us to wait, even when we stay busy.  I told the Lord today, " I'm asking for Patience--- but hurry!"   =)     Everyone have a good day~

So good to hear that several of you got calls and letters- you must be so excited and gives me hope that mine has to be soon!   AND  - I really appreciate your sharing what they say about the food, how it's going, etc - of course don't want to be intrusive, but any news you feel comfortable in sharing with the group is so welcomed!!   Himmiemom, you are so right, I was feeling all sorry for myself, letting myself get down about being alone at Christmas without my son, and not hearing anything from him yet - but then I thought about what HE would say to that, and he would be all over me - "Toughen up Mom - Jeesh!!"  and then - I took out the form letter to read his few notes one more time - and guess what?  I had missed where he had written " I love you , Mom!"   one more time on the inside flap of the envelope! Was like a little gift hidden there!    Oh, and thanks again Mamawalrus, for all you did to try to get us further discounts, its much appreciated!   I'm trying to catch up on all the ribbon and scarves things, but I'm not sure what I am supposed to do at this point, in any case , I would be happy to contribute or help in some way.   Thanks again to all of you for sharing what's going on with you and your recruits - I can usually only get on once a day to this site, but it's really fun to hear from all of you, keeps my spirits up!

theresa proud navy mom - My son in Ship 09 Division 070.  I have gotten the form letter and that special call that he got during security interview.  No other correspondence like a personal letter.  SOON!

Send2Herb - what state do you live in?  We are all the way on east coast in Virginia...  assuming physical distance can affect how long it takes to receive letters!

I'm off work until Jan 4th which I thought would be a good thing. But.... it is leaving too much time to sit and stew, worry, and miss my son. =(  I cant wait to get to see him in PIR but boy, the logistics of trying to figure out how me, my daughter in law and my ex-husband are going to coordinate things are really interesting. DIL isnt too tough, as she lives with me but the ex is interesting! We're going to have to cooperate because there isnt much time to do anything but share our time together.

GREAT DAY...First letter recieved from our guy on Ship 004 Division 804...All is well..Food better than expected and never knew he could fold his clothes and make his bed so many times in one day....

For those who were in doubt about the "plus four" on the zip code 60088-7103 is correct.

Wishing all other's good communications soon.  His letter was dated 12-18.

Good Afternoon everyone!!! Last day of work for me than I am getting a 3 day weekend.  Still on call though.  I myself like everyone else is hoping for a letter or phone call, but if I don't get one this week I am okay with that because deep down inside I know if my son could he would.  I was sitting around feeling sorry for myself earlier this week, and I had to stop and remember that he is away from us which is definately alot harder for him than what I am feeling right now.  I am not saying we can't be sad or miss our recruits on Christmas, but we need to be thankful for what family we have around us right now at Christmas.  I am sure our recruits are all pulling together to get that family feeling that they are all missing right now.

aprul....my son and your rct are in the same ship and div....glad to hear they are getting their mail...my son got a call on the 11th because he accidently sent his drivers license home in his pocket....my son is not a big writer, so I dont really expect alot of mail from him, but I keep doing my part by sending the letters, so that he knows he is loved and is being thought about....this is the first christmas in 19 years without my son...really really hard on me....just keeping fingers crossed that he will call me on saturday....would much rather talk to him on saturday than to receive a letter

battlebuddy....it is very hard to keep your cool when you see the 847 area code....i ran in place for a second....and tried to get a grip, didnt help....keep a piece of paper near by and write down some of their words so you can read them over and over....remember to be positive and strong...they need it, it is as hard on them being away for the holidays as it is us....keep crying and keep venting on here it helps....we are here to support each other...dont know what i would have done if i didnt find this website
