This is the final test for your recruits. When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

LaLA@ thanks for the info....I guess I just dont want to go somewhere and be disappointed and I know the Ramada does put it on no matter what, my concern being....... how loud it is,,,, the darkness I hear is bad,,,,hard to hear when talking. And over priced,,,,
I have reading all this info from different people....
Did you think it was to loud and over priced?
I know we can initally meet at Ramada and move to Anastasia like most people did but.....just want to get opinons from everyone who has been there....
For those making reservations, Navy Lodge is about the least expensive place to stay. In the summer it was $65 a night and you could get a room with 2 queens and a kitchen for the same price. You don't have to have military ID, they just ask for your SR's name and ask that they stop by with their ID after PIR. Navy Gateway Inn is even cheaper but you do have to have military ID to stay there.
Hi all, I know I have heard a few groups mention that the Ramada was not a good place for the Meet and Greet. Some have had one elsewhere for their N4M members and some have gone to the Ramada for that Meet and Greet and then met somewhere else afterward. No matter where you have your meet and greet, the one at the Ramada will still go on. They offer it to all families who are attending PIR. I will say this from my experience. I went to the Meet and Greet at the Ramada. It was not bad at all. It was a little dark but there was no smoke whatsoever. They don't allow smoking in there. At least they haven't since I was there in July. They provide hot h'orderves and other snacks free of charge. If you are staying at the Ramada you get a voucher for 2 free drinks and if not they allow you to bring in your own drink or you can buy one there. They have a microphone available for all the N4M members to pass around and tell a little bit about themselves and their sailor. We had a great time there and finally getting to meet all our new friends in person was awesome. I know it will be great and you will all have a great time no matter where you have it. The important thing is to meet your new friends and have fun and of course in Feb be very careful when driving. I just wanted to make sure that you hear another opinion. :)
Also I am going to call around and see if I can get a group discount at a hotel... woudl anyone be interested in trying to stay at same hotel together and getting that dicount.. I know the PIR 2/4/11 were able to do that... I am going to look close the Naval station as well!
Mamawalrus - I am all about a nicer place for M&G! Definitely not into a dark/smoke-filled place. blech.
Son left for RTC on 12/7 and STILL no letter - mailman just left and nothing. I'm bummed. While the house is less stressful without him here, I am beginning to miss the sweet things about him. The arguing (he should have been a lawyer he is such an expert arguer! lol) I don't miss!
Hi all-this is for all the PIR for 2/11/11....if you have not read the boot camp info link that Jessica listed, please do.. She has it listerd below about 7 spots down....With that said, the one I really liked was PIR 8/13-Our experience. Please read that and that will lead me to the next question.. WHile I know Ramado traditionally holds the M & G, after reading this and other post I found, The Ramada does not seem like a nice place and it was suggested we make our own M & G at Anastasias. We can get a head count and call them to arrange this... As stated by the writer this is our M & G and we will want to have that time to meet each other, talk and hang out.. I dont want it to be in a dark, smoke filled room! Let me all know wht you think after reading that link,,,,there are a few others I have talked to and found that agree the Ramada was not a pleasent place. Thanks and so Look forward to meeting ALL of you, we will be sharing so much in these next 8/9 weeks and meeting you all will be the icing on the cake!

Would it not be sad if we did not miss our sons and daughters?? My grandson cleaned his room and put all of his "stuff" away. Everytime I walk by his room and see it so empty it just does not feel right. So this morning I took some of his stuff and put it back out, and that feels better.
A long time ago I was told that the best job a parent could do is to give their children deep roots and strong wings....Now that they are using their wings to take them where they want to go, I have to believe we had done a pretty good job.
Enjoy the weekend and Thanks for the weather updates...
Good afternoon everyone!! It is a sunny but Brrrrr cold day in Northern Illinois. I saw that some of you got your boxes yesterday and today. I myself am really missing my son right now. Everyone is home today and it just doesn't seem right without my son. Finishing up last christmas shopping was always done dragging my son with. Just didn't feel right. Husband and daughter baking brownies for Christmas party Monday at his work. My son's favorite. His younger brother is feeling a little lonely today. They would be hanging out playing video games and playing Magic card game. I also miss the laughter of him and his friends when they came over. It is almost too quite today.
ADM60....are you in Santa FE? I live very close.
That is a lot of snow adm60. We had only 6 inches here last weekend in NC and they are calling for 1 or 2 inches today. I have Christmas shopping to finish and I am so ready for spring lol.
