This is the final test for your recruits.  When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

Just made contact with my  SR's mom and have learned he is PIR 2/4/11 Ship 11 Div 060 so I am much relieved.  He arrived 12/6/11 by plane.  Ill switch over to that group but keep checking here too.  Courage to all, and thank you for the support.  We really did have 17 inches of snow in Santa Fe...drifting to 3-4 feet---and no plows except on the highways!

Now a little more about me. I am like some other moms, Jessica, Diannep, and Lynne, you have already met here. Our stories are all a little different and we have had different experiences so we are able to give advice and answer most questions that new members have. I have 2 sailors. My daughter left for boot camp in May, she had PIR in July. While in boot camp she was in the choir, she was a stick (person who carries a flag), she was a Grad N Go and on a Chartered Flight :( She went to Pensacola for a-school, Oceana VA for c-school and just graduated from c-school and is now with her first command in VA. She is an AO (Aviation Ordnanceman), she met her hubby in the DEP program, got engaged right after boot camp, got married a month later and 4 days later her hubby left for bootcamp. (Talk about Rollercoasters!!!!) My son-in-law had PIR in Oct and is now in a-school in Pensacola. We drove to PIR from NC for my daughter but my son-in-law did not get to participate in the PIR ceremony due to a family emergency that brought him home right after the capping ceremony. I am here to help if you have any questions please please ask. My best advice right now is to write letters a lot. Every day if you can. My daughter and son-in-law still talk about how important the letters are. They are the only connection to the outside world and the SR's live for mail call once they start getting it. Thanks again for making me a part of your group.

Happy Weekend everyone, I hope you all are having a great weekend and staying warm. The word is really getting around about the ribbons I make for families to wear to PIR. It is so cool to have someone come find me and ask me to join a group so that they will know about my ribbons. It makes it all worth it. I love this site and I am so happy to share my craftiness lol. So, about the ribbons: They are about 5 to 6 inches tall, most are navy blue satin with gold or silver letters, stars, an anchor, and some have a music note on them if your SR is in band or choir at bootcamp and I can also add a flag to those who have more than one SR or another son or daughter in the military. I make the ribbons as my way of paying it forward to N4M's website. They are a great way to show your pride for your sailor, an awesome way to recognize other N4M members, and they also make a great keepsake and are perfect for scrapbooks or shadowboxes. They are $5.00 each and are suitable for men and women. If you would like to know more about them or to place an order just click on my name and it will take you to my page; then on the left side click on add as a friend and I will send you all the info about the ribbons. Thanks so much for inviting me to join your group :) LaLa  (here a couple of sample pics of the ribbons.

Oh and I ordered my flag last night... if you go on the site and once you order the flag, it takes you to the confirmation page, there is a link you can click on to order cool bumper stickers and other patriotic stuff...some are pretty straight forward and funny!

ok, so I have been reading a lot from old posts of 800 div moms, not getting any info if BC is different for the 800 than the others. But I am not sure that I liked what I was reading :( some moms NEVER got a call, one got 2, missed one, and the next one was only 1 min. Lots of head games. Does not sound that have been allowed to write much. From what I gather, they do get Liberty for the weekend of PIR but need to report back to GL by about 7 or 8 p.m. I will keep researching.

any idea who would know the difference? I did post the same question on the the Pre-Buds group, I will let you know if I find anything out.
