This is the final test for your recruits. When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

Hello all,
Just got admitted to N4M---had been about 6 days!!! and I have been reading avidly all over the site. My LO arrived Dec. 6th to boot camp and I have been ever so anxious for him. I m afraid I will have no way to hear from him as I do not have his Mom's contact info and fear he did not give her mine. I have guessed that he is Ship 11 div 63 with a PIR of 2/11/11 but it is just that, a guess. Doubt I will hear anything til he is able to make more than one call. I m thinking perhaps on Christmas. I took a chance and wrote him at that address--worried that he could get in trouble but I could not wait---wanted him to have word from us at the first mail call. So so proud--but very anxious. Hope you all are getting your letters!
Woo Hoo, hopefully mine!!!!!! I need some letters
Yippee! I got the letter today too! PIR is 2/11/11 for Ship 09/Div 067. I saw two other posts yesterday, but its nice to get your own letter! My SR is doing well. (A lot better than Mom is doing apparently.) She said that boot camp is not bad and biggest complaint is too many people showering at one time. She also commented that the rack would be more comfortable if she had her miniature dachshund with her, like at home! So it would seem, all is fine. Anyone else thinking maybe we need the training, not them? Lol!
mapakids@ wow...that is an incredible song with very powerful lyrics...
Just found out that a girl I went to school with recently lost her husband in Iraq.. he was also a police officer here. Please add her and the family in your prayers!
mapakids@ love that song.....
HI momofmark72 and welcome....looks like those form letters are making the rounds... I am still waiting. hoping today will be my day. I bet that little note sure made you day!!!!
Feel free to ask any questions you have and above in the Discussions there is a lot of info as well......
Hi everyone! I'm new to this group, but that's because I finally got the form letter!!Yay!!! I've been to the "boot camp moms" group. They are both so helpful with any questions or concerns. I was so happy to get something after "the box". It's great to know that there are other people going through the same things you are. It's also nice to have the "veteran" moms here too. My son is in ship 09 div 068 PIR 2/11/11. I cannot wait to see him again. I just want a real letter from him. He did write a little blurb at the end of the form letter saying he was tired when he actually was able to go to bed. He got to bc on the 7th at around 6pm, but didn't get to actually sleep until the 8th at about 8pm. He says everything is good so far. I'm hoping he wrote a letter last Sunday and I'll get it soon. That's what I'm hoping, but who knows? I'm just glad I have his address so now I can send out my letter and give it to the rest of the family that want to write.
I know if I have any questions, I can ask here and they will be answered. It is so nice to have a place to do that with people experiencing the same stuff. Thanks, ladies.
Good Morning to everyone!!! Hope all is going well for you all. Today is Friday and that means the weekend is upon us. Anyone have plans this weekend? Last weekend before Christmas. I will be working tonight in the ER and than off this weekend. I am on call, but for the most part of this weekend I am going to try to get some R&R. Need to catch up on some well needed sleep and start reading books that I checked out at the library the day my son left for MEP's. Haven't felt like reading, but the books go back in less than 2 weeks and I have 4 of them to read. I hope you all have a good day and to those that are waiting for that form letter to come I will be sending good vibes towards you.
Postal1... I also agree with you on your comment. The boot camp thing is necessary to mold our loved ones into sailors. I was worried about the whole boot camp thing. The yelling and all bothered me, but when I talked to my son he said that it is the RDC's job to yell at them. He had 1 year in DEP's and got to talk to others that came back from boot camp at the recruiters office. They were able to share their bc stories with the DEPers. He was only concerened about the peanutbutter shot!!! After hearing that I thought if that is all he is concerned about I should not worry about what happens in boot camp.
My son is excited about being able to travel and see and do things we as parents may never get to do. He is 19 and has known since he was 10 that he wanted to join the military. So I know in my heart without a doubt that this is what he wants to do and boot camp will pass. I think as a parent we are suppose to worry. I don't know any parent who doesn't worry about their child. Some of us worry more than others and some of us worry about different things. I would have to say I would worry more if my son was away at college.
