This is the final test for your recruits.  When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

HI battle buddy!   We will take you.. how are you holding up?

Himmie@ My 14 year old daughter has been watching one of my sons favorite shows, she sits with the paper and pencil and writes down what is happening and pauses it when there is something long to write, like a joke.  She had two pages worth last night,, he will for sure get a kick out of it.  I hope they are able to start getting our letters and cards at Christmas.  That will be right about the 2 week mark, give or take a day for us all.  Prayers the RDC will be nice enough to do that.  :)

I should know for sure soon but was told this would most likely be my PIR Group! Yeah....

deesmadre... My son is Ship 02 Division 912 with a PIR date of 2/11. Maybe this week you will get the form letter.

mamawalrus...I wonder the same thing.  What time they go to sleep and what time they wake up.  I heard they are very sleep deprived the first couple of weeks.  So I am thinking they are dead tired and probably fall asleep as soon as their heads hit the pillows.  I myself got a Christmas card and made sure to find a white envelope for it.  No bells and whistles on this card!!!!  He did say he can have small pictures.  So I am also sending him a photo taken of our family the day of his boot camp party.  I am cutting it down small and will have it laminated so if it gets wet it won't destroy the picture.  I also have been cutting out random comics and taping them to his letters.

No form letter today for me. Its been one week today, in fact this time last Wed my son called me that he had landed in Chicago. It was at 8:35 pm... I wrote that down for his scrapbook. LOL Only 8 more weeks to go! Extra prayer for mail this week to run smoothly. I mailed out my second letter today and have his Christmas card going out tomorrow.. I found the thinnest one, with the white envelope :) I jsut dont want them to find any reason to "pick" on my son or create a nick name for him due to me!!! LOL I am sitting here looking at my NAVY tree and wonder if he falls asleep right away or lays there and just thinks. I know he is really livivng his dream and has no doubts that this is where he belongs. Good night to our sailors and may you find strength, endurance and brotherhood with your fellow recruits!

Hello to all. Haven't gotten the form letter yet, but kid's awesome recruiter sent me his address today. Reuben James ship (I think that's ship 2) and DIV 912.

Himmiemom and Lisamoorie: Same ship and Division?

My kiddo left 12/7, got the box 12/10 and am just waiting for the confirmation of the PIR date so we can make plans

Thanks for the support and your willingness to share.

HImmiemom! That is so great!!!!!!   I am so excited for you..... now we know ours will be here soon too!  I am thinking this week....I cant imagine waiting till week 3 to get it.... in reality it would only leave 5 weeks to buy airline tickets and hotel booking... not a lot of time!

Comment by himmiemom on December 15, 2010 at 10:37pm

Lisamoorie...Looks like our sons are in the same ship and division number.  Looking forward to sharing any info with you.
