This is the final test for your recruits. When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

I got form letter yesterday for my son who is ship 11 div 065 and it has PIR date 2/11/11.
God Bless Navy for Moms! The ultimate support group for us women! :-)
Hey all I went on a Ninja mission...painted my scooter black, my face black with the grease paint footballer used and in the dark of night snuck into the RTC to see how your recruits were doing...and look what I found...
Okay who substituted their cat...for their kid...now that was just plain mean....lol!!
Lynne, you know that might be why I cant transfer it over or add it.. I thought I was one of the Admins but will double check with mapakid on that. Between her and I, we are finally figuring this thing out! LOL
Hey everyone...happy Wednesday...to all the newcomers welcome...good job mama walrus on getting all the information moved from 2/4 to here...you will get that widget figured out easily...but you have to have admin priveleges to add it...lol
Aprul...having a child with a parent gone is so difficult, but this is an idea I got from someone whose hubby was on deployment in Iraq. Make a paper chain with the number of links equal to the number of days to PIR. Use Navy colors just for fun and make the Friday links yellow...just so you can see the weeks pass by. Hang the paper chain somewhere special in the house. Then each night before bed time...let your child remove a link..."we made it through another day until daddy comes home". This will help them visually see the time pass by. The yellow links will help them and YOU count the weeks. It is a pretty fun way to coun the days and you will get excited as the chain gets shorter and shorter. Then choose like day 19 and 36 to put surprise on the link...and on those days celebrate because you will be 33% and then 66% done...I hope you like the idea...
Jessica-those are really cool...I would like to order that next year with his Division on it. I found it on Amazon.com.
Mapakids-Ok I figured out how to paste all the Discussions from the 2/4/11 PIR. Now I will work on the weather gidget! ;)
Tonight I went to Walmart to buy him the simplest Christmas card with a white envelope that I could find, As I start to read all of them,,, my tears began to fall! Then It hits me, he will be alone on Christmas! ;( But as I am driving home I realize, he is not alone, he has a group of young men with him who will become his brothers, his family. I can see his smile now, as I know they will all get to share a joke or two in the near future!
Yes, I think that he was surprised at what I already knew! I am so relieved, maybe I will be able to sleep tonight???
they will have more goodies! they were all really great today, so if they are watching here, now that I clued them in, thank you!!!!
Yea what do these recruitors think when us mama's know before them!! LOL LOL
At my sons last DEP meeting the week before he left , i attended as the recruitor and I were gonna talk after. So they invited me to sit in on the meeting.. As the meeting was ending, the NC1 (?) asked me if I had anythign I wanted to add, Now mind you I listened to about 30 questions, and almost ALL I knew from N4M's!! hahahahaha( I wanted to jump and tell them the answer but had to sit quietly.) Once he gave me that opportunity I told all of them about N4M's and they could tell their parents to get on and it would tell them everything they were asking that night. One of the recruitors there looked so surprised at what I was saying.. he wrote the site down and was going to look at it he said. ;)
Got the Address!!!! Ok Ladies, "kill them with kindness," something my mother always taught me. As you read I was a Navy Mom on a mission today! I baked some goodies and took myself down to the recuriters office. I walked in, and there he was, straight faced and said, "you are not here for an address, right?" I smiled and No, you said it would be a week, I was just dropping by some holiday goodies and a card," we talked for about 2 minutes, he said "let me see if anything is posted yet" I said, "really, that would be so great, you see other moms on N4M have gotten theirs already," well, he goes on to tell me that he does not use this site, I told him I understand, but just for fun let see if the information that I have gotten from N4M is correct, I think that he is on Ship 4 Div 804, can you believe that is what his computer told him, and he was shocked that it was posted so soon. Anyway we ended up chatting for about 45 min( didn't he think I just wanted to get home to address all my letters??LOL) but it was great, and he has turned out to be a really great guy, who was hard on my son, but I know that it was only because he wants him to be successful. And wouldn't you know it when I left the office, I whole heartedly said thank you and told him this little piece of paper was gold and He SMILED!!!! Anyway so happy to have the address, looking forward to making more goodies for those nice guys in the recruiters office, and hopefully getting my "box" soon, more anxious for the form letter as that will confirm the PIR date.
