Navymom74, there are only about 12 groups of SpecOps per year, so about 1 in 5 groups has an 800 division.

They start counting from 001/801/901 every Oct. 1. There have only been five 800 divisions since then, but 15 PIR groups. You may note that in the current list of PIR groups on the RTC Great Lakes website, only three of eight current groups have 800 divsions

DebBee- about having his friend over to make a mess- I've got permission to yell at the guys in the neighborhood, just so I don't get rusty! I told them they need to come over and EAT. I text them just because!!! They miss him too!

Received 4 lenghthy letters today.  I told my husband and daughter....gold to me, too!!

I do have a question though:  Does anyone know what collar devices are??

He also said his section leader position gives him a petty officer 2nd class rating and gives him authority to be on the recruit chain of command....What does that mean??

I thought i was with the "game" of learning navy lingo, but will definitely have to study this weekend!!!

I hope everyone else got letters also!  Good night!

I took my youngest son for a "college day" today. It was really exciting for the both of us.  I kept thinking, "This is sooo much easier than sending them off to boot camp."  I was sort of wishing that my SR has chosen to go to college here and the brothers could be together next year, looking after each other as they have always done.  But these were not my decisions to make and I respect and support both my son's decisions with all that I am.  I am very proud of all three of my sons, but I also really admire and respect what my SR has chosen to do.

Hi all! Glad to read the last 12 hours or so of posts!  I can relate to the comment about MLK and the mail not going as planned :(  Another day of waiting for a letter. I also made the same mistakes you all made by anticipating his phone call and not acting surprised!  Now I'm anticipating his next letter, even though I write to him and tell him not to worry about spending his little bit of free time writing to me. I would be disappointed if I didn't get a letter!  I'm hoping that it's just because the holiday and the mail is off schedule.  I still need to clean his room and the rest of the house!  I am feeling down and really crappy and believe it or not, for me it helps to see others feeling that way, even though it may not be motivational! Thanks for being honest and sharing! Go Navy ;)

DebBee- I totally understand the hope that your son would go to college.  My problem is that my son went to college...5 years, bachelor of science, and STILL chose the Navy.  He expressed that it was his calling and he felt it was his duty to serve for his country.  I can't help but be proud of him.  I really did think I was in the clear for anymore military conversations, though!

My son is 18 and has always been a momma's boy (God I pray he never gets on here!) And I have always been in the loop with him. But when he called Friday and I said something about I was sure I was going to get a call since everyone on here were getting calls he said he was hoping to surprise me! So I felt I let him down a little. And when I say something in Navy lingo he asks me how did I know... Oops N4M... I think he is glad I have others to talk to because he was worried about me when he left. :) But I will continue to be the want to, need to, know kind of mom I have always been. He is growing up and I am NOT there to do it for him. He should be very proud as I am that he is doing what he wanted to do. I just stood by him 100%! We moms will get through this as those before us did. LOL DebBee ~ where would they be without us moms cheering them on? That's what I ask him all the time. And he says "Nowhere". They need us to support them right now and that's why we always send encouraging letters instead of the ones we write in our heads and beg to have them home or atleast near us. LOL We are doing a good thing here. I wouldn't nor couldn't do this without all the women on this site. Thanks again for listening to me rant on and on and etc....

DebBee----I totally get where your coming from my son is 19 also and I want to know everything possible so I can "be in the loop" when he starts talking and not seem like im the "dumb mom" like he usually thinks but I really had to bite my tongue when he called he was so excited to tell me about his experience I wanted to say "I know" but that would of broke his heart and probably shut down and not tell me anything again. So no I dont think your over reacting!  Were always gonna be MOM no matter how old they are the excitement and pain are right there all the time.....
