Oh yeah!  This is sooo exciting!  I can't wait to see that countdown clock get into the 20's!  We're getting there!  Are our SR's considered senior recruits yet?

Ladies, may I point out that we get to see our sailors one month from today? I can't wait!

All recruits within a division are on the same schedule, but not all divisions are.

They go through three or four division per day. There will be four divisions start day 1-1 on Monday, then four more go through 1-1 on Tuesday, etc. So they never have no more than four divisions needing to use the facility on the same day, like the pool or the firefighting trainer.

Toward the end there are a lot of "garbage" days built into the system to make up time lost if the pool was closed for a day, etc. If not used to make up time, days RDCs use for in-house informal training.

In the end, they all spend the same number of training days at RTC. The first few divisions get their orders on Thursday and leave on Friday or Saturday, and the others leave in order of their traiing days. The next day's divisions will get their orders on Friday and leave on Tueday, then the next day's division will get their orders on Tuesday and leave Wednesday, etc.

DebBee, 086 (and other divisions in late training) will PIR during week 6 of their training.

This can only be done because they spent so long in processing, they got a lot of the informal training done then, so they can rush them through the rest of it. Plus, they will be held at boot camp to finish whatever they missed during the week after PIR, and ship out to their schools as late as the Friday of that week.

This happens every year with the pre-holiday arrival recruits, although this year was worse than ususal because the cutoff was so early.

Always hopeful!
Comment by diannep on January 18, 2011 at 9:29am
trishifit:  Eventually they do allow them to write several times a week so that may be true! It may be a "reward" for them though.
Comment by trishfit on January 18, 2011 at 9:27am
During my son's phone call last week he said at some point (he wasn't sure when) they would get to mail letters out on Sundays and on Thursdays.  Don't know if that is just something they are dangling!!!!
Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on January 18, 2011 at 9:08am
That is very true, in most cases they do get time to write on holiday. And, something to look forward to, once they are there for about 4 weeks they usually get more time to write and send letters so you may get letters 2 or 3 days a week.
