I got a call!!!! He was stressing out because he wasn't going to be able to call because he had watch but then the RDC told him to go call on the quarterdeck for 20 minutes. I'm really happy.
He seemed really non emotional and apathetic about being on the phone with me. IDK if it was because there were people around or what, but that part was kind of hard. You know, one word answers, not making conversation like normal.
Did anyone else's recruit sound this way?
The Navy keeps loosening the rules for wearing digis as they become more accepted and familiar. The early rules were based on poor reception the old working uniform got from the public (looked like a prison uniform), and uncertainty of the response they would get with the new uniform.
Our recruiters got permission to wear digis on Fridays, and are campaigning to wear them daily. They said they get a much better response from prospective recruits when they wear the new uniform. It simply looks more adventurous and more in line with the modern concept of "military."
I think it makes sense that sailors should travel in their digis, like the Army and Marines do. They are far more comfortable, and look less travel-worn after a long day in airports and cramped in airline seats. And people seem to take comfort in having people traveling with them who look like they are ready to defend them in a pinch, rather than being ready for a parade.
Stacie, the recruits wear their "digis" most of the time. On days when they are going to be doing dirty training, such as firefighting and at Battlestations, they wear a dark blue jumpsuit.
They use their PT gear as pajamas and as a swimsuit.
It stands for Leave Earnings Statement. It's kind of like a pay stub but it shows what you're getting paid for and how much, BAH, base pay, family separation, etc etc.
Some seasoned wives have told me that if the military over pays you for whatever reason, they will realize their mistake eventually and take it out of your account right away. So they say it's always a good idea to check the LES before spending the money.
Does anybody know how to access my husband's LES? I couldn't figure out how to get onto MyPay.
I just want to make sure it's accurate. It looks about right, but I'd like to double check.
Thanks
