Jenny and MountainMama - recruits leave in order of division. When they prepare orders and plane tickets, they do it by division. Usually the first few divisions' orders are ready before PIR, so they leave first. Also, some divisions aren't even done with training by PIR, they have to return to training for a few days after PIR weekend before leaving for boot camp. The Navy doesn't want to have the first sailors waiting around boot camp for those who aren't done yet.

One other reason: it takes time and manpower to sort recruits by A-schools. They are already sorted by division, so it is the fastest and easiest method to do the job.

I really do hope you get to spend the entire week-end with your man.  It really would be great if they could fly out together!

i wish they would just send them out all together!! like everyone in his division is going somewhere different.. so it just makes no sense at all to me!

Yeah Jenny, I don't really understand that either.  Nathaniel told me that he thought he was flying out on Wednesday to San Antonio.  Maybe the lower number divisions leave first, but I wouldn't know why.

Thanks DebBee!  I was hoping  that a month into it, he would be a little less homesick.  I think the reality is sinking in that boot camp is just the beginning of being away from home.  Four years seems like forever to him right now, but I have to believe he will get used to it.  I think he will love A school and getting to do the things he's always wanted to.

he is homesick! he is ready for graduation to be with me and his family again! hm im so confused on why my boyfriend would be leaving on saturday when your boys arent and there going to the same place... i really hope they change this and let him stay all weekend, especially since they have liberty on monday now!

So sorry I was on my cell and not my laptop. Thanks, so happy to see some are getting phone calls. :-)
