Looking for information, sharing information, along with your hopes, dreams and pride in your sailors' successes and sharing your fears with other moms, wives and others is what this place is supposed to be about .
If no one wrote of their fears about recruits who are hurting the division, or their fears that the division would be ASMOed, etc, then why are we here? This is why this website was created. And if no one wrote of these fears, how would people like Lynne, Anti-M and other experienced moms know what information you need to dispel those fears?
If any of you want to ask about your fears but don't feel comfortable expressing them openly, feel free to send me a private message. I can't say I can always reassure you that your fear is groundless, but I will be completely honest.
Wife64....yes this is an exciting time! I can't wait to see his transformation and hear all that he has learned! Now that there is communication, time is going by just a bit quicker (thank God). I'm so ready to purchase the plane tickets.
So Ship 4, Div 805 is getting a call Thursday (most likely). Does anyone know what date they started day 1-1 of training? Just trying to figure out where they are in training with respect to my husband's division.
NavyWife121409-I know it's hard not to, but try not to worry. If there was a delay in training or any other sort of problem they would call you immediately to notify you of the change. No news is good news!
Txnavymom--seeing my husbands transformation was amazing too. He waited around in the DEP for 18 months (he was originally set to leave March 2010 but then got injured). During that time period he also lost 60 pounds and went from couch potato to totally in shape. I can't wait to see the transformation after boot camp.
RDCs threaten to fail or ASMO a whole division regularly (every division hears this threat at least once, my division heard it for 3 weeks straight). It is never done. It's an empty threat used to scare recruits into behaving. RDCs say almost nothing positive or encouraging in the first three weeks of training, it's part of the breaking down process.
Around the fourth or fifth week it's the opposite, the RDCs become the recruits' biggest cheerleaders, and they are suddenly one of the best divisions to ever pass through the gates of RTC.
As for those "trouble makers," they enter the Navy with an unrealistic expectation of what boot camp is like, or what their own capabilities are. They truely believe they can do it. They are not bad people, they just don't know themselves very well. That's why they make boot camp so difficult, to weed out those who aren't mentally suited to the task.
By the fourth week of training, these "troublemakers" have ASMOed, been separated, or have come around.
The vast majority of division losses are to injuries, not behavior issues. Most are back in training within a few weeks, but some take months. If the injuries are too severe, the Navy will release them from duty and send them home to heal. They can try again in six months, assuming the injury isn't something that would make them ineligible.
Has anyone hears from there SR in ship 3 div 83?
I'm worried.
@ diannep....thanks for the info. My SR has wanted this opportunity and has worked hard to get there. He even dropped 35 pounds in 2 months to qualify. I know he doesn't want it blown.
