txnavymom:  If he is GradNGo to GL A School, he should be moving there right after PIR...3-5 hours...and then he calls you with his phone card (no cell yet) to pick him up.  You may have overnights with him then and he can return to GL base with his things.  If he is held on RTC for a few days until he can move over there, you may have to store his things in the lockers Jessica mentioned. since it is likely he will not move over there until the following week.  Nothing is allowed on RTC base.  The sailors usually share a cab to go and retrieve their things once on GL base.

Thank you JessicaB.  Hopefully we won't need to do that since his A school is in GL and we will be there until Sunday.

You can also get a (much nicer) service banner (aka blue star banner aka blue star flag) at www.serviceflags.com or at your local kite/flag store.

Yes, the ones at mybluestarflag.com are free, but they are also very poor quality, smaller than standard service banners, and it took them four months to send me the one I ordered. I gave mine away to a Marine mom whom I knew didn't have one.

I ordered my blue flag several weeks ago and it has arrived, but I have it in safe keeping until I get my "I'm a Sailor" call.  Can't wait!

Love the video Arwen. You can order a blue star flag at http://www.mybluestarflag.com/freebluestarflag if anyone is interested. You can't display it until your SR is actually a sailor and finished Battlestations 21 but it takes about 4 to 6 weeks to arrive. You can be prepared.
