Deebee- funny you should say that. About focusing on more everyday things. Not the speeding ticket. I can't blame my son in bootcamp on that. lol I was walking down a hall at work and ran smack into my VP!!! And I teared up instantly because what was on my mind was bringing to me to tears. So he worried that he has hurt me he starts asked me if I was okay. Uh NO! "My son is away at bootcamp". :( He got really quite and asked if I wanted to take some time. LOL I said HECK YES come Feb 17th you will not see me around this place for a week!!!! He laughed and then told me how proud he was of me raising such a great son!!! It could have turned out so differently the more I think about it. Need to keep my chin up!!! And eyes opened!!!!

Wife64 - I am the same way. I do ok for one day. Then watch out the next.

I cry off and on all day. Wake up in the middle of the night and think of

something or worry about something....then the tears start coming again.

I am not a frequent crier, so,  I am sure people around me think I am loosing it....

I got my first letter last night!!! Finally! And let me tell you it took me awhile to read it through the tears of joy I had flowing. :) He is doing fine and misses all of us soo much. Hopes we are thinking of him as much as he is thinking of us. If he only knew!!! He really must have been recalling his childhood because there were apologies in there I never thought he would say nor did he really need to say them. Like breaking his sisters barbie doll because she wouldn't play with him. HE WAS 4!!!! OMG! Silly things like that. I think he will be more detailed in his letter to his dad about how things are going. Since he is following his dads footsteps and he has been there before. Unlike most of us moms who just raised them and that was our job. LOL
Hope you ladies get your letters TODAY!!! Pray all is well with your SR's. I need to get busy and write him back. :) Oh and the P.S. Was would like more letters! OK buddy!

Don't worry about the minutes. They can get calling cards at the phones, it's quick and easy.
Comment by NavyWife1214 (Ship 03 Div 079) on January 5, 2011 at 12:53am
Okay, now I am worried that he won't have enough minutes on his phone card to call me again. Can they buy phone cards there? Do you think if I sent him one tomorrow, he would get it in time for the next call. He started training last Tuesday. I worry about everything! Do they really get an hour long call? Why haven't I heard of this before?

For the next level of checks, they want names of neighbors from past homes, old co-workers, friends, etc. It is different from sailor to sailor, depending on how much they move, whether they are memorable or not really noticed in their neighborhood, etc.

Thanks for the SW info CarynA!  I hope that is still in effect tomorrow, just can't bring myself to do it now! Any word from your recruit? Don't know if anyone in Div 082 has gotten any mail... tomorrow?

Arwen--out of curiosity, what information do they need to get for these next level checks?
Comment by Arwen on January 4, 2011 at 11:41pm

Depending on the level of the clearance, the security clearance checks will continue even into A-school. The first (recruiter) security checks are for basic clearance. There are several more levels of clearance.

There is a level for Nukes and those who will be handling sensitive equipment and learning to maintain and use techno weapons. This is the level they begin working on in boot camp.

Then there is a whole 'nother level for the cryptos and ITs, who handle some of the most top-secret information in the country. Their security clearance requirements are outrageous. They were calling my daughter's former best friend's mom (the girls were 9 at the time they knew each other) to confirm that my son was telling the truth about living at our address in Colorado 4 years ago, and interviewed my mom's neighbors.
