@ wife64 As far as I know, I think they are holding them until the day that they allowed them to have letters, which was a few days ago.  So he probably got them all at once.  My husband didn't get any of my letters yet(last I spoke to him 2 days ago) and I wrote him on 12-22 and 12-26, Im guessing its a combo of the mail is running slow because of the Holidays and they just started allowing them to get letters, just within that past few days. @untamedfaith Thanks so much I know you will get your call soon, from what I hear they get a call on either week 3 or week 4, or so I have heard.

So I see that Presidents Day is the weekend of PIR. This is a federal holiday! Does anyone know if that means we will get some extra time with our sailors that weekend?

NavyWife31 - that's so wonderful! I can't wait to have the same feeling you got when he called you and talked to you and your son. It makes the wait worth it

NavyWife--Did he say whether all the letters were delivered at once or not? It makes me so happy to know he's finally getting all of the letters I have been sending :)

My Husband is Ship 03 Div 084, I got 3 phone calls from him in the past few days, only because it was business related and they needed me to fax(and re-fax) some documents to him.  But I was super thrilled to have that time to talk with him.  He said everything was going great, that they are just now able to receive letters(so I am thinking this is an earned Privilege or something).  That Christmas was no fun at all... they pretty much Marched all day long and had a good meal.  He also mentioned that He and about 1/2 of his squad caught the Flu, but everyone seems to be recovering alright so, not to worry... was nice that he was able to talk to our 2 year old on the phone, he was so Happy to hear from his Daddy!!! a letter would be nice, but I am super thrilled that I got 3 phone calls from him, even if most of it was about business... hope everyone has a good new years!!!

I'm so glad to read that letters are coming in.  It is so funny that I have never been so eager to go to the mail box in my life!  With that said...still no letter and realistically, my boy has never been good about writing letters, but I hold on to the old saying that "no news is good news".

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

We gave them our boys and girls and they will come back as men and women.

MountainMama...thanks for that article. It has a ton of information and yes very detailed.

Happy, happy, happy New Year!

I'm away from home (in Australia), long story, couldn't reschedule the trip, BUT I've got someone watching the house and mail . . . the form letter came today!

The address that I had gotten from the recruiter WAS wrong, his ship is 03 (not 02) and his division is still 084.

In those few short lines, he told me that he's "doin fine", his division is "72 strong", he's making friends AND his friend Sam (from home) was right . . . he does wake up missing me every day!

I've blown my nose and wiped my tears . . . I'm walking on clouds!

Okay, so Nathaniel is either in the middle or end of week one.

Here is the article I was talking about.  I don't know how up to date it is, but it's pretty detailed about the week to week training.  Perhaps someone who knows could comment on it's accuracy.
