I understand the going to the mailbox!  It was 2 weeks since we talked to our son and it took the letter 7 days to get here.  It was the form letter with a few personal lines but it felt like a 7 page handwritten letter to me.  On the funny side I have never seen my son's handwriting so perfect!  God bless the Navy!

I think my girls and I have made a dozen trips to mail box today and still nothing...We are missing him so much but been nice having my girls home for Christmas break they keep my mind busy so only few break downs instead of all day.  We are so hopeful we get to spend the weekend with our recruit he is going to A school in GL so we have been told we can see him all weekend, sure hope it works out that way!

sherri... my son is the same ship and div as yours....I understand going to the mailbox... I am off work right now on Christmas break and the days just drag on and on and then I go to the mailbox and it seems to drag even slower.

I'm so glad some of you are missing your son's the way I am mine! At work I'm busy so it's alright, but when I get home I'm so blah.  I know it's early and it will get better. I know this intellectually... but still.

Getting tired of going to the mailbox and seeing no letters from my son.  It's so dumb because I've done this all before with the letters, you would have thought I would be better by now.

I think honestly today is hard because it's the two week mark for so many of us.

Glad you guys let me whine on here.

I booked the hotel for Thursday through Sunday but I'm not going to book a flight until I have more info.  I can change the hotel reservations but not the flight.  My son will be going to A school for MA in San Antonio.  From what I understand, they often have to wait for classes to fill up so I'm not too worried about Grad and Go, but then again, who really knows?
Comment by Sailor's Wife 64 on December 28, 2010 at 6:29pm
How are all of you booking your time in Chicago? Are you booking the entire weekend or just the day of? I don't want to book the whole weekend and have him be grad and go, but at the same time I don't want to schedule to depart on Saturday morning only to find out he isn't grad and go.

Also, the recruiter said that nukes are grad and go 99% of the time. Can any experienced people confirm this?

Lala Ribbon Queen...thanks for the pictures!  We did have enough snow down here one time to make a snowman that fit in the palm of your hand. I think if it is like your pictures, I will be in culture shock.

I've been looking up at reservations at the Navy lodge and the Navy gateway suites, and also for rental cars, but teir website says i have to be 25yrs old in order to rent one, I'm only 20. Does anyone know a rental car place that let's you rent a car at the age of 20?
