It really does get better. I cried all the time. My family thought I was nuts. This site is all that kept me from going crazy. If anyone even asked about her the years would fall. This is a great place to talk it out. We understand what you are going through.

My sailors PIR group was large as well. We had 13 divisions and we took 4 extra peole and they all got in with no problem. There are always families who only have 1 or 2 come to PIR and some sadly, who have none. I would also guess that there are more who won't be able to come because of winter weather. I say if they can go then they should. I have never heard of anyone who did not get in.

Shetaz--It's OK to have a bad day here and there. I hope your spirits get lifted soon. Just remember that boot camp is only temporary and it will get better!

diannep.... thanks.. I don't know what has come over me today... I have been trying to be strong... especially when I talk to everyone.  I am so sad today... but I know that it will pass.  Just needed a cry day I guess.  Thank you for the support... it truly helps.

shetaz:  You all are still so early in this process...it does get a little easier as bc goes along...the letters start coming more regularly, and a phone call is thrown in here and there....so hang in there!  It is an emotional rollercoaster for sure!  But so WORTH IT when you are at PIR!  All of the sadness and hurt missing them is then GONE!  And then once they go to A School, and have their laptops/cells, there is communication again!

Arianna: In addition to Navy Lodge that Lala recommended, Springhill Suites and Residence Inn are great....close to one another, 4 miles from base. Less than a 10 minute ride to base with stoplights.

Bell:  There are no "tickets" for graduation.  They go by the names on the list that your recruit provides them.  This is a large PIR group, so they can't guarantee that all will get in (extras), but more than likely, they will.  They are either let in right away, or wait in the Visitors Center until all on the lists are seated, and then come in.  It's worth it for them to come!

Day 14 today... and I am sitting her crying like a baby. I miss my RCT so much... I know that it gets better... or it is supposed to but today sure seems hard.  At least we go the letter and are planning our trip to PIR. Looking forward to seeing our son... just don't know today seems like day 1......

hello moms, for those you that have done this before I have a few questions about the tickets. I know we get four, but if more than four show up, the ones with out tickets do they get see the graduation maybe via monitors located in an area were guests can wait? thanks!
