We stayed at the Navy Lodge, nice enough but not too pricey. And I believe it is the closest hotel to the base other than the Navy Gateway Inn. A kitchenette with 2 queen beds was 65 a night back in the summer. Just make sure you tell them you are coming for PIR and give them your sailors name for the reservation. The kitchette is the same price as a regular room.

Got my form letter today! It was nice to see his few lines. He sad it was good there so far and that he misses his sisters (he didn't mention his brothers though, but I won't tell them that). He asked me to send a Facebook message to some of his friends with his address and said he has already written another letter that will be on its way soon.

I made my reservations for the Residence Inn and for the car rental. I am looking at purchasing the airline ticket after the 1st of the month. I am not looking forward to the snow and cold in Chicago and I am saying lots of prayers that there won't be any snow storms that week that will affect my travel plans.

Where would you suggest to stay, I am leaving on the 17th and returning on the 21st? where is the best place to stay that is not to pricey? I will be traveling with three other people. I want it close to the base so it wont take as long to get over to the base.

txnavymom, amazing that you have never seen snow. That will be quite an experience. I predict you will either LOVE it or HATE it lol. We went on an adventure in the snow a couple days ago and my stepdaughter got hit in the head by some snow falling off a tree. She swore one of us was throwing snowballs at her lol. There is just something special about snow in the Mountains. Here are a few pics I took on Sunday.

Both Springhill and Residence are wonderful...good reports on this board about both.  I have been told that the staff at Springhill was very accommodating to Navy families.  But I can say the same for Residence from my own experience there!

I made my reservation at Residence Inn in Waukegan. This will be the first time I see snow!

I just made a reservation at the Springhill Suites. Looks nice. I f you tell them

you are there for graduation, they will give you a rate of $89. Has a pool and

free breakfast. It looks like it is close to the Residence Inn also.

When you call to get prices for hotels or to make reservations make sure you tell them you will be there for Boot Camp graduation. I think all the hotels in the area offer a nice discount for that. The least expensive that we found was the Navy Gateway INN at only about 55 a night but you have to have military ID. The Navy Lodge is next with rooms for about 65 a night. You can make the reservation in your SR's name and then just stop at the desk with your sailor after graduation to show their ID. There is no tax for either of these hotels. We stayed at the Navy Lodge; a kitchenette with 2 queen beds, bathroom, a small table and a kitchen is the same price as a reg room. You just have to request the kitchenette when making your reservation. I recommend calling them direct instead of the reservation line for all their hotels.

Okay, just reserved at Residence Inn.  Party in my room!  Just kidding...I'll probably have my 78 year old mother with me.
