MariaM, Although the Navy Lodge is on base, it is on the other side of the base.  So, to go to PIR, you still have to drive, which means going off base and then back onto base through the right gate for graduation.  (And, make sure you take the parking pass.  If you have military stickers on your car, they won't get you into the PIR parking.)  The NL does not have a shuttle to graduation and it is too far to walk.  We opted for an off-base hotel, with a shuttle, that was also a little less expensive than the NL.

We stayed at the Navy Lodge, 2 very comfy beds with a kitchen. Not 5* but great for the time spent there and especially great for the price. I think it was 65 a night but you have to ask for the room with a kitchen, it is the same price as those without kitchens. They were doing a little remodeling when we were there in the summer so it may be much better now.

TC7 - Where did you stay while you were there?  Do you have any restaurant

suggestions?  Are you glad you took a shuttle vs driving. I am trying to decide what to do.

My ex did the same thing when our daughter was at bootcamp. Every letter she wrote me she asked why doesn't dad write me or still no letters from Dad can you ask him to write me and every phone call the same thing why hasn't Dad written? Is he mad at me? I would hang up in tears and at the same time be so angry with him. No matter how bad I wanted to say he is a stupid jerk I held my tongue and just promised I would tell him to write. After every letter and call from her I called him and told him to write her that she kept asking why he hasn't written. Every time I got one excuse after another. Finally I wrote him a nice long text message explaining that this is hard for her and she needs encouragement and she needs to know that you support her. Stop making excuses and write the dang letter and take it to the post office or drop it in a box they are on every corner. It was a huge guilt trip and he finally wrote her one letter. You would think he would understand that she needed that communication since he was in the Army. I have never been able to understand how some people mostly men but some women too can distance themselves so much from their own kids when  they divorce and remarry. It is sad.  Sorry I guess I needed to vent.

Copied from RTC Facebook:

Congratulations to this week's Captain's Cups winners! Div. 082 took top honors for the integrated divisions, and Div. 084 won the all-male division. Captain's Cup is a friendly, fun competition between the divisions who are about to graduate. Activities include events such as relay races, basketball, volleyball and tug-of-war.
