Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hi my son is also in ship 12 div 096. Have you received a call yet? I haven't? And I am very sad about that!! I received a letter, he seems to be doing fine, but I sure do want to talk to him!!

I too am very glad to have a connection with someone who is in the same boat as me(so to speak). I have also read where our sons' group lost their phone call, that made me very sad :-(. I wondered the same thing as you, how bad could it be> I talked to my son on the 12th the day he arrived. Have not talked to him since. I have received one letter, last Thursday, it was rather short (he is not much of a writer). He sounded upbeat, and said that things were going pretty good, and pretty fast. (maybe for him, but not for me, it seems like forever since I have talked to him) He said they had been working out alot and doing alot of running. And that this week they were going to start getting into the pool. He also said it was very cold and lots of snow (we are from the South).
I have not gotten my form letter yet either, have you? I am trying to begin to make my plans to travel to PIR. Have you make your travel arrangements yet?

My son is the same ship and division ...as of Wednesday Feb 2, I got 2 more letters from him and 1 for his stepdad. He said bedmaking is hard for him and this running. He passed the swimming test after taking it twice. On his first letter, he expressed that he cried.
How about your sailors? Hope moms will share their sailor's experiences.

Hi! My son's in here too. I've got 3 letters besides the initial form letter. They're short, but with his small writing, that he had before he joined, he can fit a lot onto 2 pages. lol He has also managed to write his grandmother and his grandparents. He seems to be doing really good and keeping up good spirits. We've gotten a couple of phone calls from him, but then I wasn't expecting a lot of calls either. My husband has tried to tell me as he himself was in the Navy until 1988. He hasn't said anything about his own personal accomplishments, so I don't know if he's passed or failed any tests. Swimming might be a hard one for him as where we live there aren't a lot of places to swim, except a pool and those aren't big. Glad to finally found everyone here. I think we're half way there.

Has anyone heard from their son/daughter lately? It's been almost 2 weeks since I've heard from my son. Of course, if he's writing to other family members or friends, he may not have time to write everyone. But I'm still writing him. And no phone calls lately either, but he explained to us how they lose minutes, so not overly concerned about that. And it's only 24 more days till they graduate.

We got a call around 6 p.m. on Saturday evening. My son is doing well. We get 3 letters every week from my son. This is either week 4 or 5 of training. Week 4 is a bit tougher we have read. They have gone through 6 RPOC's so far - not sure if that is normal or if it is a difficult division. He said it is tough, but you have to learn to not let things bother you too much! The time is going fast - we leave to go to GL 3 weeks from Thursday!!! So Excited!!!

Hello Mom's of Ship 12 Div 096, how it is going so far for the recruits ? My son wrote in his letter that I received yesterday (2-14) that he is "okay" , and he is preparing for UTI ( Uniform Transfer Inspection ) , where they have to change unifroms 6 times. And he is working on passing his PFA ( ? ) , he said his team is doing a lot of running to improve.

Hey everyone, my son also called on Saturday, and I got a letter yesterday. He says things are going good, and that they are very busy. He too is not much of a letter writer, used to texting, facebooking, and talking. B"ut his letters are pretty upbeat. not much detailed info though. So any info that anyone else gets please share it with me. I can't wait , 24 more days til we see them, Yahoo!!!!! We live in Alabama and are driving, so we are planning on leaving on Wed the 9th, will be in GL on the 10th.YEA. In his letter he did say they are getting to write more often now, not just on Sundays so we should all be getting more letters, at least I sure hope so.

Thanks for the headsup! I'm hoping to hear from my son soon. And like you, we're driving from the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. Depending on the weather (snow in GL) will determine when we leave. If no snow, we can leave in the wee morning hours of the 10th. Otherwise, we'll leave on the 9th and stop somewhere along the way and finish traveling on the 10th.

Finally heard from our son on Sat, 2/19. He sounds good. But he's put on light duty as he's got tendinitis and shin splints. He's hoping to get off of light duty as he will be held back if he doesn't get off of it, and he doesn't want to get held back, especially with only about 2 weeks left. So he may grin and bear it. We weren't home when he called so he called on my cell. Glad to know he remembered it. Can't wait to see him. And any prayers or good vibes for getting through the tendinitis and shin splints would be appreciated.

My son is here also! He seems to be having a ball...He called me on Saturday also! I'm a little behind finding out about this site-wish I had found out about it sooner! He's going to A-School in Connecticut and gave me the rotten news that he has to fly out Friday night after graduation...:-( Oh well, I'm still going to be so happy and proud to see him!!! I guess he has four buddies going to the same school with him, so that's a good thing! Look forward to meeting everyone when we get there! Julie
