It is supposed to be sunny and warm here today and this weekend. I am hoping that is true for the trip from WNC all the way to VA Beach :) I guess I better ask her if they got snow or rain from this last storm.

My computer is driving me crazy UGGGGG, It keeps crashing over and over and over. I got a friend request sometime last night or this morning and when I clicked on accept my computer crashed. The name started with a "C" and she said her (I think son) left for bootcamp Jan 19? And she was wanting info about the ribbons I make for PIR. I think if her SR left around that date she would be in PIR 3-18 but it could be this group. I am not sure. I looked through my friends and could not find her. If this is you please send me a message or another friend request if it didn't work. Thanks, I hope everyone is having a great day.

I won't be on here as much this weekend but I will be back strong on Monday. I am driving to VA Beach today to see my sailor :) I am so excited to go see her and see her base for the first time and yes I am even excited to help her move into her first apartment. Something else for all of you to look forward to :) I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I will be checking in throughout the weekend with my "smart" phone. I just can't stay away from all of you lol.

Stewmom, I think it's your school district's patriotic duty to support your SR and family. Go to them and explain that you are waiting for a call from him. I think that they will agree to allow you to leave it on. OUr school district doesn't require us to turn off our phones.

nikosmom:  Really?  A call at 2 a.m.?  WOW!  Confused on that as the RDCs have gone home for the night and they are the ones who take the recruits to the phones.  Maybe that was some kind of "emergency" call to that mom....so I can see where you would want your phone nearby at all times.

I sleep with my phone next to me, I heard that another Mom got a call at 2:00 A.M.!! I'm not taking any chances.

To the moms that feel lost..I am prior Navy (and married to a sailor for 20 years) and I know (sort of) what these recruits are experiencing.  It doesnt make it any easier waiting to get that first letter or phone call.  It's not just about the lack of information, but mostly about these kids (well not really kids any more) that we've nurtured for 18+ years who are no longer a continuous part of our daily lives.  Thats the hardest part to reconcile.  I miss mine like crazy and have an empty space that cannot be filled.  Im sure you all feel the same way.  We have to hold it together and have faith, and pride, that our loved ones are out there doing us, and our country, proud!!!

I have no idea when they call .. that makes it really hard for me as I work at a school and am required to have my phone off during the day - I wish there was a "regular" time for them to call that I could count on . Right now I carry my phone on vibrate all day - they kids will understand when thier teacher leaves the room to take a call right ...
