I have called several times.  He says the address he has is a general address and not necessarily the REAL one and if I send his mail to that address my son may not get it! But I think I will call again tomorrow.  Hey I have a question for all you experienced NAVY moms.  PIR is on Friday, right?  So, I will arrive on GL on Thursday.  I will be flying, so what airport is best to fly into.  Also, should I plan to stay til Sunday, Monday, or what?   Any  suggestions and info will be greatly appreciated.

AGC, My son arrived there on the same day at around 10:00 pm. He's in Ship 12 Div 98 with a PIR of 3-11. I think yours will be the same. Call your son's recruiter. He can get your son's assignment/address for you. You will receive your letter soon. Good luck!

My son arrived in GL on the 12th.  I have still not received the letter with the ship and division #'s.  Do you think his PIR date will be 3/11 also???  I am wanting to start making reservations etc.  I so want to hear from him.  It seems like forever, since I have talked to him. :(

Amymichelle:  Not sure I understand your question.  Do you mean that they would send your sailor home because of the procedure you are going to have?  They would not do that, I don't think.  I'm so sorry you are having to go through this...

mysteryfan my son shipped out on the 18th and we also thought the PIR would be on 3/18.  I am glad it will be on the 11th so we can see him sooner!  We have started to get things going for the trip now that we have a date.

In which cases would my recruit be sent home? I may be going into the hospital to have retained placenta removed and I need to know if in that case would he be sent home. The doctor will require me to have a blood transfusion and a full week of rest with my butt glued to the couch...I want to tell him because he already knows that it might happen but I don't want to have to start this whole process again.

The tears from you all missing your recruits will be turned to tears of joy in just a few weeks as they become sailors and you celebrate at PIR!  So just look forward and know that better days are coming!  I know it is so hard right now...I remember...but know that it gets better.

No, mysteryfan:  Just the 800 and 900 divisions are "special".  The others are ordinary divsions with different jobs represented in each.
