Also, HapsMom:  If the gf will receive the form letter, please be sure to ask her the PASSWORD that is in that letter.  That will be important for you all if you plan to attend PIR because you need it to download the gate pass at the end of bc.  People are not supposed to share that PASSWORD on this site...so you will need to get it from her.  Write it down and put it in a safe place!

HapsMom:  Oh boy...I had a feeling that was the case.  Well, again, I think you need to let the gf know how much as a mom, you are missing him, and just want to know how he is doing if he calls her.  Hopefully, she will totally understand that and keep you informed until you get your own letter and phone call.  Hang in there...

Thanks...no, I didn't get the box either...again...prob was sent to the GF.  They moved in together in June so the past six months I have been getting used to him not being at home...I'm not as worried about him now that he is in the Navy but I also know that the GF is who he will prob contact and call the most for right now.  He's young and he doesn't realize how I ache to hear from him.  I understand that and am hoping a little growing up happens in the next few weeks.

I'm allowed to be up about an hour at a time and I have been working on the digital pics I took at his swearing in ceremony.  I hope to print some of those out and start a scrapbook.  I miss him!

HapsMom:  Hoping for a speedy recovery for you from your surgery...

I think I would have a talk with the gf and just ask if she can just please let you know when she hears from him.  Hopefully, he will call you all when allowed to call again. By the way, some gfs "3-way" the recruit into the parents when the recruit calls...just a suggestion you might want to make!  Even if just for a few minutes of talk time with him.

Just know that you are still very early in the bc experience.  He most likely has not been allowed to write yet, usually 2 weeks---although occasionally some RDCs allow it earlier than others (I understand that it also depends on when the training for the recruit mail person is finished because since mail is a federal job, there is training involved).  The form letter should arrive this next week for you.  That will help as you will see his handwriting in it...and believe me...it is exciting to see that!  They are allowed to write 4 personal lines at the bottom. Have you received the box yet?

Hang in there and stay on this group.  These ladies will help you because they are great support!  Once you get that first "real" phone call it helps alot.  Also he most likely has not received any of the letters you have written yet.  Those are also held for about 2 weeks from the recruits.  So just try and be patient....it gets much better...it really does!  And A School is a whole different situation with contact re-established by cell and laptop!

HapsMom, I hate that you are having a hard time. I hope he writes you a letter and you get it soon. Maybe one will come today since all the mail this week is at least a day late because of the holiday. Can you call the girlfriend and see if she has heard from him? You have so much spare time on your hands, maybe you could start a scrapbook :).

No letter, form or otherwise. If he got a phone call to let someone know he arrived...he called the GF and she didn't think to let us know she heard from him.  I'm feeling pretty sad.  I've written every day and got the address from the recruiter and mailed them.  I'm hoping to hear from him soon.  I am recovering from surgery and will be off work the same amount of time that he is in boot camp...he left on the 12th I had surgery on the 18th.  SO I have lots of spare time to dwell on him being gone.

nikosmom:  Rather than a group for your division, you may want to start a discussion group above for Div 99 and tell ladies to join it.  Then they can post right here on this group without having to leave it.  That is what most PIR groups do...any of you who want to start a discussion group above for your division please do so.  Just click on the "Start Discussion" above and set it up.
