Dorio:  Write him EXTRA letters while he is recuperating because it can get very discouraging for those recruits in there.  Get his friends, other family members, etc. to write. They need encouraging and uplifting letters to get through this time.  Remind them that they WILL become sailors...it just may take a bit longer!

I can't believe all the birthdays on this PIR date! I hope this is a good omen with all the problems we had with the right PIR date.  We should get a giant birthday cake and celebrate at graduation!

We have been telling people that they need a state-issued photo ID for those over 12 yrs old for PIR, but someone asked on the RTC FB and they said a school picture ID would suffice.  However, your form letter doesn't mention this.  If it were me, I would be getting my children a state-issued ID if they don't have a driver's license yet.

Some schools have picture IDs for the kids, I believe photo IDs are required for kids over 12, also many states offer photo IDs through the DMV.  You might check your DMV the cost should be nominal.  Children under 12 require birth certificates to be presented for entry to the base.

Acceptable id for 13 & 14 year old attending PIR  3/11/11

Hi, I am having trouble opening link to bootcamp.navy.mil.  It will not open. Anyway, what is acceptable form of id for my 13 & 14 year old to attend PIR?

Thank you so much. Go Navy!

Hi, I'm new to this Navy For Moms Website.  My son's PIR is 3/11 as well.  I was just noticing all of your birthday comments and I'm feeling really blessed as my son's birthday is actually the PIR date!  So we'll get to see him on his birthday, which I am really thankful for.  I have not heard from him yet, though.  Can we send letters without his division info?

Hi all!  I am dropping in from my SR's previous PIR of 2/11/11 b/c I received a call last night that he has been transferred to the RCU (Recruit Convalescent Unit) due to stress fractures in his shins (from running).  He left home on 12/7/2010 and we were SO ready to see him PIR in 3 weeks from tomorrow )-:

Right now the doctors think it will take 4 weeks for him to heal and then be sent to a new unit to finish the last 3 weeks of his training. So, this will push his graduation date back at least four weeks.  I am not even sure that THIS is the correct PIR, but I am hopeful it is and that it won't get pushed any further!

He sounded okay but a bit down, which is understandable...  SIGH )-:

I know how hard it is to be away from them on their birthday. My sailors 21st bitty wad in december and it was the first birthday I had ever been apart from her as well. She was at c-school. She was not happy because she had watch from midnight to 8 am so therefore could not have drinks with her friends. I was okay with that watch lol.

My son's recruiter told him to keep his birthday low key.  It is not a good thing for the petty officers or chiefs know that it is his birthday.
