While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

He'll be at boot camp, so though he won't be with me, I know he'll be safe and secure. No booze! I hope SR's give each other birthday wishes. Maybe they'll even sing "Happy Birthday"!!??

This will be the first year I don't have both my boys together on their birthday. We have always celebrated by having dinner together. He will be 22. I work and find the mornings are the worst. That's when I have my alone time and he's been gone since 1/6 and I still can't stop from crying in the mornings. Really missing him. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Comment by diannep on January 19, 2011 at 10:34pm: AGCSailorMom: Well, yes, they would get the mail from the recruiter's address but it may take a bit longer to get there. We recommend that you write the letters now, hold on to them, then when you get the form letter, address them all and mail them all at once. If you DO decide to use the recruiter's address, just be sure to doublcheck it with the form letter address when it arrives...and make corrections as needed. But I would wait.

Comment by AGCSailorMom(Ship12Div096) on January 19, 2011 at 10:31pm: Well, another day, and I still have not received the letter. This is day day 8. So I am hoping that day 9 will be th magic day. I have tried to obtain information from his recruiter but that has been unsuccessful. He says that the address he has is a temporary one and that my son would not even get the mail if I sent it to that address. I was wondering if anyone else has heard this?
