I booked the Country Inn and Suites in Gurnee,it is 7 minutes from the base. they have a pool and hot tub and breakfst included. we got a suite so the family can all hang out together, it has a fridge and microwave. maybe we can do a meet and greet the night before PIR. I'm excited!!!

I already made a reservation at the Navy Lodge as well for Mar 10-Mar 14.They do not charge any cancellation fees as long as you cancel by 6:00 p.m. on the day you are to arrive. I'm still looking at flight information (but refundable tickets are $700!! No way!), so I'm just going to wait until it gets a little closer.

I also made a reservation for the car rental place. I checked several places, but the www.acecarrental.com/gf was the best option for me. (They don't perform credit checks with debit cards-I don't have a credit card and my credit was wrecked from a previous bad bad bad relationship...) They also do not charge for cancellation or changes of the reservation and MUCH cheaper than the bigger national competitors (Budget, Avis, etc.)

For those of you who aren't really looking for a way to get around the credit check AND are members of USAA, you get GREAT deals with Budget, Avis, and Hertz. Here is the link: https://www.usaa.com/inet/ent_utils/McStaticPages?key=rental_cars_m...

If you aren't a member of USAA, call to see if you're eligible...I have been a member of USAA since I started driving and they. are. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. There are also NO underage driver fees (I'm 22) -saves QUITE a bit of money. And they cover insurance so you don't have to purchase that either (look at the details of the specials though just to make sure I'm telling it right-it's all a little confusing!)

This is what I spent my morning doing, so if anyone has any questions let me know! :)

JessicaB...what is TG17-13?  My son has Ship 12, DIV 100.  Is that the same that you mentioned graduating on 3/11/11???  I still haven't gotten the formal letter yet.

AmyMichelle09...my son is in Division 100, too.  Just found out yesterday.  I hope they have a good group.  Someone else just told me the PIR is 3/11/11 for sure...although I haven't gotten the paperwork yet.  Have you, or anyone else, heard for sure?

Mollie:  If he is Div 95, you are in the correct group here!  Welcome!

codysmom:  There was a screwup with the PIR date for this group.  Div 91 PIRs on 3/11.  If you want to hear it from someone official, call the Public Affairs Office in the morning 847-688-2405.  I'm wondering if they will send out another form letter with the correct info on it, but just know that the 3/4 date is not correct.  You can check the upcoming graduation dates on the RTC site and see that 91 is listed as the first division of that group.
