diannep, well, since you chimed in, I find YOU much more accurate than anybody I've seen any place on the internet;  so far, you haven't been wrong that I can see.  I appreciate the time you take walking us through this.  :-)

Well, they will use a van to take them over to the new base.  So you may not be able to walk him to the gate .  And you will be meeting him at the new base, which is nearby.  I still think maybe it would be a good idea to return to the hotel, get some rest, and then you are "good to go" when you pick him up from A School base.  Make sure he has a phone card so he can call you to pick him up...he can return to the A School base with his cell, but you can't give it to him while he is still at RTC.

Sorry I am just so trying to help where I can, I want "us here at N4M" to get along as well as we can with the "offical" RTC page.  I will tell you a bit about who I am and what I do, I work around the military (Army) as well, I manage TWO Facebook pages for my command! It is a tough job and sometimes requires me to log on from home and correct things "during the night" as well as "on the weekends"

Heck if we were to go on the official RTC site, if you want other informaiton from "another site" please contact me in a private message....it would be quite intersting to see how many people contact you as you are not out in out telling them about N4M's you are being cryptic LOL.

yes moving the GL and im aware of the wait time, but i really have nothing else to do while up there and some private time to talk w/ my SR would be awesome, even if its just the walk to the gate

Nellz:  I'm assuming you meant that your sailor will be moving over to A School in Great Lakes right after PIR?  Remember, it usually takes them between 3-5 hours to move over there...so that is a long time waiting on base.  I think most family members go back to the hotel or sightsee until their sailor calls them to pick them up from the new base.

LWEatonNC:  HA! I so agree....

Everyone, be assured that we on here would love nothing more than to be in "compliance" with terms used by RTC.  It would make our jobs much easier here when helping you all out as veteran moms!  But every time a SR calls or writes home and says, 'I'm GradNGo" and then mentions leaving on Sat., well...there we go again!  As soon as they start calling home and saying "I'm a Sat Departure," ...bingo!  We will be in sync and start using the terms that they do at RTC.

Comment by Nellz15 on March 8, 2011 at 3:03pm
if my SR is grad and go is there any place i could sit and wait for him on base?
Comment by TxLadyJane(ET Nuke Mom) on March 8, 2011 at 2:41pm
Well they have asked N4M's people not to mention this site on the Facebook page a number of time, they do not mind us sending Private Messages to anyone that is on the site.  So that is a good compromise.  It's an officail military page, and by regulation (from military side) no NON-MILITARY site can be mentioned.

Navywife, I kept hearing calls would start around 2 pm, but our call came at 11:45 am Central Time, same as Great Lakes. I know others have gotten calls much later. The calls seem to be unpredictable. Keep your phone close!
