My son is a Grad N Go. He will do his A school there in Great Lakes. Are they allowed to spend the night with us at the hotel if he is doing his A school there?

Hi! This is my first time posting here but my son is Graduating on March 11th and we will be staying at the La Quinta. He is on Ship 12 Div 093 if any of you have a son or daughter in that Division and you are staying at the La Quinta please let me know. We are driving there all the way from Virginia so I would also appreciate any weather comments you might think I would need. Looking forward to seeing all of you on March 11th.

abrock, thanks for sharing! I've been waiting all day to hear something about Captain's Cup! Glad you got a call :)

Got a call from my sailor today! he said that captain's cup was really fun and that his division (102) got second place or something like that he didn't say too much about it other than it was really fun. He says that they're doing good and his division has everything pretty much ready for PIR but they're just waiting to do battlestations. He sounded soooo good and it was sooo good to hear from him! I hope others got calls today too!!

Ok, to make sure that there is no confusion---

You don't have to drop your sailor at the gate after liberty Fri night unless you want to...we were allowed to drive onto the base, with our pass, and park in the NEX parking lot, which made his walk to his ship alot shorter. So, unless the rules have changed in the past year when we were there, you should be able drive on base so make sure you have the gate pass just in case...they will probably check your sailor's ID also. As far as Sat. and Sun liberty, not sure if you drop off at the front gate or can drive on (mine flew out on Sat.)...but I know on PIR day, we were allowed to drive as far as NEX parking lot.

Also, remember....on here, we refer to GradNGos as those moving over to GL A School right after PIR...as well as those flying out on Fri and Sat.  We will continue to use that term in these groups until the RDCs stop referring to them as GradNGos for those flying out (RTC refers to those flying out as "Saturday Departures").  SRs are still calling home to say that they are GradNGo and flying out on Sat.

Just didn't want anyone to get confused! My rule of thumb is "when in doubt, cover all bases"  and have everything with you that you might need!  :-)
