diannep - Thank you so much for all the assistance and information you provide for us. Proof there is wealth in information as well as people!

Yes, we are all moms/significant others to some very elite people ~ HooYah!

Just an additional note:  Sometimes with some injuries, they have the choice to stay there and rehab with them...but it could be many months at RTC.  So many elect to go home to rehab if they can get an option to re-enlist later.

HuntersMom:  They don't get to enlist because of: health/medical issues, psychological histories, legal issues, weight issues, lack of high school diploma, low ASVAB scores, or being a single parent.

They are released from boot camp for: stress-related problems, injuries, illness, or behavior/discipline issues.

So consider your SRs very special people indeed!

This was all from Arwen's info too....

Crazy right? Heard injuries and they are sending SR's home for home sickness? Really? odd to me but I guess.. I don't know.

Aw, there you go again diannep!

That is so incredible and makes me wonder... Many people I grew up with, family included, did not have a choice and a few of their friends tried not to get in or go. Therefore, I find this fascinating and puzzling.

Do we know what the major causes are?

Comment by diannep on February 27, 2011 at 6:56pm

from Arwen:

A recent military study found that only 22 percent of those ages 18-24 are eligible for military service.

Of the 22 percent who get to bootcamp, another 10-20% are released due to various issues.
