AMEN, TxLadyJane:  You sound like a wonderful lady!  There is such a wonderful peace and feeling that comes by doing for others, that's for sure.  I have found that it is like no other feeling...and truly makes US feel blessed....you know that feeling!  I remember once years ago in our Sunday School class....we were asked what touches us about our spouse as far as behaving in a Christian manner....and my hubby said that he is touched when I am paying for something at a register and I inconvenience myself by moving quickly out of the way of the next person so they don't have to wait...even though it means that I am still struggling to put money back in my wallet, gathering packages, etc.  I remember just staring at him because although I have always done this, I never knew that he had noticed?  And I thought it was no big deal anyway...still don't!  PAYING IT FORWARD....treating others as we would like to be treated...what a much more gentle world this would be if all do this, right?

diannep yep I totally agree, I have always been a caring type of person putting others before myself, once I saw the movie "Pay It Forward" it kind of made me even more prone to help others.  My husband always complains I am too helpful and that it can put people off.  That I need to be cautious on who I help.  I understand his concern but we can't always fear the unknown and when you see someone in need it touches your heart strings.

Jean:  Let's face it...our sons will never understand what a mother's love and concern for her children is all about!  It's a "female" thing!  And it is lifelong!  My mom is 82 and is still worrying about her middle-aged children!

Wow, HuntersMom;  What kindness you showed!  You did what all of us know we should do, but how many of us have done that???  Because it was  a sacrifice to you with time of the essence with your meeting happening!  Truly an excuse for many to say:  "I don't have time to help, but I would if I could!" You didn't even "go there" with that thought!  Wow. I truly was touched by this story...what an example to me in my own life...but not sure I know how to swtich batteries!  HA!  Better get some lessons from my mechanically-inclined non-Navy son!  God is smiling on your great act of compassion....

I got an letter today too! Not much information. I sent a "fill in the blanks" and that's just what he did. With some added comments. Didn't get an answer yet as to what package was ordered or whats been happening...was told to please answer the phone. (I've missed the last 2 calls.) Today I figured out how to transfer all the phones to my cell phone....not I just have to remember to put it on the charger each night! Getting to finalize our plans for graduation!

thanks for sharing huntersmom

I got a nice surprise too today, the guy that swore in with my son, who ended up in a different division, well I thought it was 092, so that is how I addressed the letter I sent to him, well it ended up he is in Division 93 and the letter still got to him YEA, well he wrote me back saying how nice it was to get a letter from me too, and that he looks forward to seeing us again at Graduation, and seeing my SR at Nuke School.  So I wrote him another long letter today, and told him of our graduation plans and hopefully he will get it before BS-21 so when he talks to his folks they will know of our Graduation plans and also about the Meet and Greet and such!!! Would be cool to try and find them.

Anyway pretty good day!

I sent a question letter to my SR, also.  He wrote on it 2 times...  'Deep Breaths, Mom"!!  Apparently, it was too many questions??  They don't know what it's like for a mom at home to wonder what all is going on & how to plan for the weekend after they graduate!!!!!

Thank you Hunters Mom.  Made me smile just reading your story.  I got mail today - it was my question sheet back. About 2 weeks ago I sent my son a letter and knowing how limited their time is I included a page with questions & asked him to just add his answers and send the page back when he could. It worked great! I got answers to all my questions & it didn't take much time, some of them were pretty funny. :)
