J's Mom and K&D's Mom... since you guys got phone calls yesterday are are in division 148... 147 should be your brother division so should we be expecting a call either today or sometime within the next couple days? I read somewhere that typically brother divisions are allowed to make phone calls together...?

For air travel, if you are bringing a carry on- you only can have liquids up to 3 ozs in a clear zip lock lunch bag.  I use the XL sandwich size.  Also if you have a bottle that says "7 oz" and you only have 1/4 left in the bottle- they will take it.

Laptops have to be taken out of your bag and put into a bin by itself.

Shoes always come off, as well as sweaters and jackets.  On days I fly, I never where slevee-less, because I hate my bare arms and I have to take my sweater off.

If you have any other questions on air travel, you can send me a private message.  I fly by plane 2+ times a month.

Yes, most airports do make you take off your shoes.

Haven't flown for years either....do they still make you take you shoes off?

I always wear tennis shoes but thinking about a pair of slip ons for the trip...(don't own any but...)

No, you don't need a passport to travel in the US by plane.  You will need a goverment issued ID such as a driver's license.  The name on the plane ticket has to match your ID exactly.

DITTO what Laina posted, except we weren't at work.  LOL

She sounds so good, she got to talk to her to brother and it melted my heart to hear him tell her he is proud of her(he is only 4 1/2)

She had a little issue with the run BUT is working on it.  I KNOW she can get it done.

The BEST 35 minute phone call I have EVER had.  MISS MY SR VERY MUCH!

I was just posting that I missed a call when my work phone rang and it was my SR!!!!!! He sounds good. He said his division aced their first test. And he is doing good. Passed the swim test and should be able to get the run done. Said his bunk mate is pushing him. said BC is okay. I cannot wait to see him!!!!!!
Comment by janlee on March 20, 2011 at 7:27pm
Even as you wait for the most important "im a sailor" call right after BS21...there will be someone who doesnt recieve that call right away because their SR will have to stand watch. (lets hope that whoever that is, its not one of our N4M' SR's, lets hope all on this site get that call..lol!).

dreame--if his phone card didnt work...he would have been able to purchase another one at NEX, thats where they go to make their calls. The main reasons for not being able to make a call in there, are one...they ran out of time (there are only so many phones and some have to wait but sometimes never get to one), and two...sometimes the recruits have to hang up or calls get revoked because someone was not following rules. I heard a story on here about a division that was getting ready to make calls, and one SR left his phone card in the ship and when he asked to go back and get it, they ALL lost their call privilege. Also...there is a chance he may have been standing watch while calls were being made. Just keep your phone near...

Maybe he just hasn't gotten to call yet? My daughter said she earned the call to me by scoring high on a test. And that wasn't until Thursday
