Dianne, we bought her a laptop and she didn't take it. Said there was no internet. Honestly, I think she is still taking it all in. She can't leave base without another female and so far she only knows her roommate, who is leaving in two weeks and her fellow indocs(?). But, they are all male. I'm sure she will make friends when she classes up.
I will let her know about the reduced cab fare. Thank you

When we were first married my husband and I lived in Carlisle PA. He was stationed at the Army war college there. It was quaint and gorgeous and exactly the kind of place I always wanted to live. So why did I come back to CA again....?

My son is heading out of Meridian tomorrow...finally...finished up A school April1st and has been on hold since then waiting on orders. Finally he is leaving...said ihe s happy to get out, but enjoyed being there alot. Great friendships made there, thankfully many also going to Norfolk. Maussie, I'm sure your daughter will find the same in the friendships. The mall is the big hangout in town (cab ride for sailors is $4)...but there are places on base too. to enjoy Hope everyone's classes start soon! By the way, Maussie, my son has at&t service...reception seemed to be ok with that. Maybe she will find a "pocket" where reception is better somewhere on the base. Yes, letters are missed, but it is sure nice to stay in closer contact with your sailor through phone and computer! Good luck to everyone. Mine is home on leave for 2 weeks then off to Norfolk.

Maussie, I worked for a company in California for years that was based in Oxford, MS. It was quite different from here. It was like a Norman Rockwell painting. A small university town, but charming. I loved to visit the corner book store when I was there. Where ever these kids go they have the opportunity to travel and see so many new places. Best of luck to her there.

lj1422, My daughter is in Meridian and Verizon's reception is horrible in most places, including her room. She found out she can't talk outside on the phone on her duty days. We can text, but I like to have an actual conversation.
Also, internet there is almost nonexistent. But, she kind of likes the tiny town. Says it has an underdog quality to it. 8))

Maussie, I was just thinking that today....what has been even stranger is that I talked to my son yesterday and tonight on the phone. It made me extremely happy that I am able to talk to him at any time. He found out today that he might be on hold at GL for a while before they can get classed up for his rate IC, but he is okay with that and loves being on the other side.

Dubbie, I am feeling the same way; tired, headache, sore muscles. No enough of any of it to actually be sick though. Last night I went to bed early and read for two hours.
Does if feel strange to anyone not to be looking forward to bringing in the mail.

Well hello ladies, it's been a little while since i've been on. How is everyone doing since you've been home? My body is so tired...i feel like i could sleep for a week! All the excitment has just wore me out. It's only been building for how long ladies? Well i hope that we can still keep in touch with each other...we still need each other. Loved meeting you ladies and seeing some ladies that i meet at mepps and old friends from Rincon. This past weekend will be one i won't forget....it was AWSOME!!!!!

I know, but when my husband did his Army stint way back when, they were not charged for them. It was one of the perks, I guess. I was wondering when that came about.
