Laundry PO = Laundry Petty Officer, it's a position of leadership in the division. Basically tho for his job, he washes everyone's laundry and make sure the laundry room is "on spot", very very clean, like you know that rim on the basket of the washer that's under the top part where the lid is? They have to take Q-tips to the rim of the washer and clean that out because when FQA (Fleet Quality Assurance) comes in for compartment inspects they move that basket around and look for dirt and dust in there. There are other positions of leadership in the divisions, such as your Mail PO, Education PO, Athletic PO Section leaders, Forward Hold, Head PO, RPOC, AROC, etc.

P days are processing days, where they go thru medical, get shots, get their hearing tested, vision tested, dental check up, etc. They don't do much more than sit at medical for most of the day. The RDC's are not allowed to "beat" them (or IT) till their 1-1 day, when they are FFD, Fit for Full Duty. 1-1 day does mean Week 1 Day 1, 1-2 Week 1 Day 2, etc. Depending on if they are a push division or not will depend on if they actually get to week 8 or not. They still go thru the same basic stuff, they may just have a few less days of marching practice or whatever. Weekends do not count, and the "weeks" can change in the middle of the actual calendar week. The date that your recruits gave you for graduation is the date they will graduate unless they mess up and get ASMO'D back. Sometimes they have to wait for enough kids to fill a division before they send them to their P days.
90% of the recruits that still have their wisdom teeth will get them pulled in boot, there are a rare few that get them pulled in A school or even later. They will be given Vicodin (or something else if they are allergic) and put SIQ, or Sick in Quarters (bed rest) for about 3 days, then LLD, Limited Light Duty, for approx 3 to 5 days. Unless something goes horribly wrong, that is all the recoup time they get.
Around their 5-3 day they will go back to medical to get more shots, the shots that they need to be able to go over seas. They won't get the PB shot again and the females will be offered the Gardisil shot.

My daughter is on Ship 12 Div 182. It is really hard because the box and form letter went to my ex and some people know how some ex's can be. If it weren't for this website I wouldn't of known about anything. I kinda feel out of the loop.

My son is on ship 12 div 184 also.

Old Mom: my fiancee is on ship 12 in DIV 184 :) His recruiter told me that pretty much anyone with wisdom teeth still in gets them taken out first thing at boot. Hoping everyone is doing well regardless! Seems like a crappy thing to have to do in an already difficult situation. They're all strong though.

Wisdom teeth? Great.... wasn't expecting that. Hope all is well with them. Anyone on ship 12 div 184?
Comment by Stephanie-Sub-Wife on March 28, 2010 at 8:32pm
Oh wow ! I had my wisdom teeth removed, and I wouldn't leave my house for two weeks because my jaw was swollen I really hope it went smoothly for her, I am sure she will let you know in this weeks letters. and No their graduation isn't delayed

Weekends don't count. Say Friday was week 2 day 4 then the next Monday would be week 2 day 5.

I'm anxious to see if my son had to have any of his wisdom teeth pulled. He was having problems with one of them before he left.
I think all they do is figured in...P days, wisdom teeth being pulled...everything.
Comment by AlyciasMom on March 28, 2010 at 8:26pm
So does all this mean that since their p days lasted like a week that their graduation will be delayed a week?
Comment by AlyciasMom on March 28, 2010 at 8:25pm
My daughter mentioned in her letters that she was getting her upper wisdom teeth out, : ( she had her lowers out last year and had such a hard time. She ended up with a dry socket. I hope its going much smoother this time. I'm guessing it would've been last Monday that this was being done.
