Mica, they won't open their mail, but if they receive a package, they will make the SR open it in front of them.

So i received my letter finally this morning! I admit I did cry before, during, and after i read it. I'm going to worry about him for the next 2 weeks now. The doctors have ordered him to wear glasses. This man has never had a vision problem, always had 20/20 vision but they seem to think he sees double from time to time. I'm worried b/c if it doesnt clear up, he has to come home :( :( Prayers are now needed more than ever!

Ladies, one thought I just wanted to share!  My son's, PIR was 3-11....Hope I can be of some help:  but I regret that we did not make more photos of our Sailor in his beautiful Dress Blues!!! He never put them back on again  for photos!  He just wanted them off & a HOT LONG  SHOWER asap when we left the base, even before he wanted to eat!!!  So, take lots of photos at PIR of those beautiful "Dress Blues" but yours will be in "Dress Whites" !!!!  Can't wait to see my sailor in his!

Fox News was saying last night that the Military will get paid!  ??? But we will have to wait and see how this all works out!  Praying for sure!

That would be so very sad if they do not get paid.  If they are married, &/or have children, they don't need that kind of worry about their loved ones back home.
Comment by RaeEli on April 8, 2011 at 1:00pm
I'm prepared by it's still kind of scary!
Comment by navyvet on April 8, 2011 at 12:48pm
I'm thinking that it will, although according to the the news it is not supporsed to effect social security or military checks, I would be prepared for it to effect the pay
Comment by RaeEli on April 8, 2011 at 12:44pm
Does anyone know if the government shut down will effect our recruits pay? One of my friends (her husband is enlisted in the Army) told me so far there are no paychecks on the 15th of this month. Does anyone know?

talally -

The best gift any sailor could have is a CAC card reader.  Just so I don't have to explain it again, go to this link....

http://www.navyfamilies.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=17616

also the rating coin is awesome.  It's in the same link....
