Tricsious   Oh I'm not excited.... I am absolutely going crazy with not hearing B's voice, trying to think of fun things I know he will love to have after bc and also trying to come up with a cool PIR gift and what foods he is going to want to eat on liberty. Can you tell I am a planner, list maker and also very, very, very Virgo!!

Ok this may be a dumb question. When I look at this PIR date it says ship 8 and then divisions 174-178. My son is ship 7 div 177. I got his form letter yesterday and it said PIR 5/20 so is this the correct date?

A friend of mine stayed at the Days Inn on Hwy 41 less then a mile from bootcamp, she said it was very inexpensive and the room were just newly redone, and all in all it was not a bad place to stay, and they also have a shuttle as well.

Is the Ramada nice?
Comment by ColoradoConnie on April 5, 2011 at 9:59am
Are there shuttles that take you from a different hotel to the Ramada for the meet and greet? We also wonder if we should get a suite with space for B's girlfriend , but still with us to help the kids save money.  They have not made any plans at this point, since it is so early. We are going to drive out taking a couple of days, but she only has the weekend off and will fly out. So much to plan... I really cant wait to start getting personal mail then we should be able to set the plans in motion!! Does anyone have a recommendation for good clean and inexpensive place with small suites? We really only need 2 beds.

Thanks for changing it, Tricsious!  :-)

They are all in about the same area, but different accommodations. So distance is not really a problem.  The Springhill Suites is another good one, Courtyard too (those along with Residence are all Marriott hotels).  Many stay at the Ramada because the MeetNGreet is there.  Just depends on what you need for your family!  We enjoyed the 2 bdr 2 bth suite at Residence Inn since I had my older son with me and he could have his own space.  Free hot buffet breakfast in the lobby too.

Is any one hotel really better than the other?  I have no idea where to book a room.
Comment by diannep on April 5, 2011 at 9:31am
For those of you who need to reserve larger suites, you may want to go ahead and book one at the Residence Inn Waukegan....they have 2 bdr 2 bth full kitchens, but those go rather quickly.  They have very generous cancellation policies....either 24 hours before or the day of arrival (can't remember).  They have the PIR shuttle and are pet friendly for those driving who want to bring their pets to see their sailors.
