The MnG is held at the Ramada Inn for all of the families who come for PIR. There is no charge and you do not have to be staying there either. It is something they do for each PIR, as a public service from what I understand. Neat ,huh? Our son is in ship 02 Div 927. He is older than most of the other recruits. He is 30 years old. But in great condition he did long distance and off road mtn biking as well as working out and running in the gym. He was always very active like that. I have not received any mail but the form letter yet so not sure what he will be doing as part of the 927. My husband and I are planning on driving out for PIR not sure yet where we will be staying yet ,still comparing prices and location etc.

Just a quick heads up for all the active duty members of a loved on that is in bootcamp, at the PIR they do not have to be put on the guest list as long as they wear their uniform to the PIR.  My husband is active duty and we contacted the Public Affairs Office at Great Lakes and this is what they told him.  The active duty member just needs to email the Public Affairs Office using their military email and give them their name and date of PIR.  So this would give your recruit one extra invite to their PIR, which can come in handy for another friend or family member.

Welcome, Ruth!  The MeetNGreet is a the Ramada Waukegan, 6-8 pm, for all Navy families.  So be sure to get there!  It is put on by the Ramada each week for the PIR groups.  So nice of them.

We'd love to come to the meet n greet!  Is it posted somewhere yet?  I just talked to my son.  He's in the PT area with the recruits, so he would see your sons and daughters every time they have PT, I'd guess.  He was an instructor on the simulation range for two years, now in the gym.  Next year, we don't know where he'll go, but probably back to Norfolk for awhile.  We have lots of good contacts there since he's been there before.

Welcome to our group Ruth! We are small but it seems like we are growing everyday! Everyone is so supportive of each other, I am sure this will be a really special time for your family and your son! You must be so proud! I know it honors me to know that your son is re-enlisting! Will you be attending the Meet N Greet also? It would be great to meet you and your family as well as your son!

I just joined this group because of my son.  He's not a recruit though--he's an instructor!  I'll be going to PIR because he's going to re-enlist right before PIR.  He's been in the Navy for 7 years as a GM, been on a carrier and done a year in Afghanistan.  Hang in there, moms!  While you're proud now, just wait for PIR!  I can't wait to see what I call "the recruit swagger."  They just walk differently.

Morning ladies! Boy do I feel silly! I guess it was my son's gf that posted the note on his fb page, he is having her post updates on how he is doing so all of his friends can check in and see how he is...

I have a question ... I have seen it mentioned that there is a RTC Facebook page and pictures of some of our recruits...How do I get the link or addy for that? I would love to see pics and see what is going on... maybe even get a peek at our boy!

It sounds like more of us are starting to get letters and calls! Hooray for us!!

Good morning ladies.  So I woke up and had a great revelation this morning.....We are now in the month of April and that seems alot closer to PIR than March doesn't it?  Sounds really corny, but at this point its the little things that are keeping me going to the bigger things like getting an actual letter and leading up to PIR.  Life as we knew it is gone, and this whole process is such an adjustment.  I guess I'm finally coming to the realization that my "little girl" isn't so little anymore.  Emotions I didn't want to have to deal with when she is just 17.  I am so very proud of her though and I keep telling myself she will be so much better off and have a great career ahead of her.  Thanks for being here everyone!
