ochaos:  Ok, I had to laugh.  I read your post about not calling back a missed call phone number...and I thought:  That was my post, word for word, included ALL CAPS words, but it's not my icon!  How could that be???  I knew I had posted that on a group last night, but didn't remember which one.  So I'm glad that you were able to take it and post it here for the other ladies.  But you sure had me confused for a moment.

Isn't it exciting to get that form letter or a 30 second phone call? These first couple of weeks are definitely the hardest. When you get that first letter or two it may sound like they hate it and want to come home. The first 2 to 3 weeks are the hardest for them as well. But it will get better for them and you. You will even notice a change in them with each letter and by the end of bootcamp many will have gone from hating it, hating the RDC's and wanting to come home to "almost" loving it and thinking their RDC's are the coolest ones there and being so happy with their decision to join the Navy. It is quite a transformation. So hang in there, write every day, tell their friends to write but make sure you tell them what not to send. It is a roller-coaster but before you know it you will be packing your suitcase and heading to PIR. :-)

Don't ever call the number back that your SR calls from if you miss the call.  Some of the phones WILL ring, and may be answered by an RDC; and if an RDC finds out that an SR got a callback, they get in trouble.  So if you miss the call, you just have to wait for the next one.  :-(

Calls seem to be by division, but sometimes if an SR does something really spectacular, they could be allowed a call as a reward, so occasionally individual calls could be allowed.  But they are usually by divisions.

Saw this today and thought it is so true.

U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command Breath, , breath! This is training for you as well as your recruit. Keep writing him letters, every day if need be. Talk about everyday stuff, no matter how mundane it may seem, it will bring him comfort to hear from you as well as hear about everyday normality outside of bootcamp.

U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command

Unfortunately, we do not have the manpower to photograph the approximate 75 divisions of recruits to be able to satisfy everyone's request. This is the same reason that we do not ID the division numbers on the photos we take because we then... get inudated with requests to photograph specific divisions and even specific recruits.

You'll just have to keep your fingers crossed in hopes that when the photographer is out and about, she'll capture your division on camera. :)

U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command

Good evening Facebook friends! Being that photos seem to be quite popular, we decided 1 Photo of the Week isn't enough. We will make it a point to post random photos each day of a division/recruits that happen to be in the right place at the right time when our photographer happens to be walking or driving by in the golf cart with camera in hand during weekdays. Or would you rather just have the 1 photo a week. ;)

Here is some good stuff posted on the RTC Facebook page today.  One word of caution about Facebook - if you are posting on FB please think about what you are posting as the RDC's may be monitoring it and today I saw many people on FB site that are using names, dates and the same photo as id on there that they do here. Just be cautious, if you have a recruit in an 800 Div. please read the SPEC OP rules.
