I am so excited not sure if I will get anything done today or not, other then think about BS and of all the men and women going through it not only tonight but just the whole idea that this is the final step to becoming a part of the "Big Picture" as they say....our babies did this all on their own, well, with the help of strangers, they all pulled together to form a common thread to get something done.  To all of us parents out there, we did good in raising them.

My Candle will be lit tonight and all the way through 'til we leave for GL! Since it is an LED tea light I might even take it along in the van! We are thinking of all of the SR's that will be doing BS21 starting tonight!! Lets go Training Group 27!  Hoping that all 8 divisions come through with flying colors no matter what order they go in!! one week from today..we will be on our way and just a few hours away from Waukegan! I still have so many things I need to take care of!

Just got a phone call from daughter, she passed her PFA and is doing pretty good other then a horrible cold.  Evidently the "team" she was on, earned a phone call, not sure what team she is talking about, but will pass on any information that she gives to me.

OK, my SR is 23 and my 20 yr old daughter is in DEP leaving first week in July.  She is my best friend and I will miss her sooo much. Petty Officer from our recruit station has been in contact with my 17 yr old son who wants to be SWCC.  He has an appt with hin next week.  that leaves me with a 16 yr old boy left at home who is talking about being a Navy Pilot.  All this from a family that has absolutely no military history on either side.  I dont think my SR knew what he was starting.

The most important thing to remember about PIR is to be flexible and not make a lot of plans, they may not want to do much.  Enjoy your visits and travel safe!

PIR LAST MINUTE TIPS:
Make sure everyone has ID's (birth certs for kids without ID's)
Bring at least 2 copies of the gate/parking pass - whether you plan on taking a shuttle to PIR or not, you'll need it to return your sailor back to base in the evening.
Binoculars - trust me on this!
Tide Stick Pen and a lint brush
Tissue - self explanatory!
Camera - and charger (or film)
Cell phone - and charger
Umbrella-just in case
GPS, reservation numbers, maps you may have printed
Husband, kids, etc (easy to forget those!)
An open mind to how your weekend will transpire - remember, they will be tired, they will be hungry and they just want hugs!
Bring your Sailors cell, laptop, ipod and all chargers to use in the room to catch up and if they are G&G you can give pass them on.
A comfy pair of clothes for your sailor to relax in while in your motel room
A sweater or jacket - it gets cold in the PIR hall
Whatever cool ribbon or name tag you may have made for your Meet & Greet
If you have room in your bag…a towel for your Sailor to sit on if you do go out and sightsee.

Best advice: Have fun and whatever you do, do NOT bring your sailor back to the base late. No one will forgive you for a long, long time! (If someone is late, they lose liberty the next day - and their whole division loses a couple of hours!!! NOT COOL)

Has anyone know for sure when BS will be for 176?  When I spoke to him last Saturday he was pretty sure it would start Monday, 5/16 til Tuesday, 5/17.
