I stopped in to see one of our local recruiters here today. He told me to repeat that no news is good news. (He's a chief and honest with me.) He said if you aren't hearing from your sailors, they haven't earned rights to calls. He even said that they can earn the right and then have it taken away because someone messes up. All have letter writing privileges now. He also said if something is really bad, the Navy will contact you. There's nothing new in any of this, but it bears repeating as I know you're all waiting for calls and letters.
I live in an area that has two recruiting offices plus a reserve center recruiting office. I had a pretty active Navy Families group started several years ago that I'm resurrecting. Even if we do nothing more than go out to dinner once a month, it's a nice support group. I wish some of you lived here!
I received 3 days of letters today and she said they are getting to write and mail out more often now. This is music to my ears!!! So glad to hear this and makes me feel so much better. Its reassurance that they are progressing!!!
So I received 4 more letters today, the first two sounded good... he had his wisdom teeth removed but otherwise okay. The last two written on 4/17/11... not so great. Said he hurt his knee that week and the Navy noticed. He was going to see a specialist on 4/18/11. He's worried that he will get kicked out. I know some guys from his Div (178) have called home this week and I still have not heard anything. I'm scared for him. If he was going to get the boot, wouldn't I have heard something by now? Or heard from him period? I know no news is good news but after the letters I'm concerned.
@diannep yes it will be a thrill for him. I know that he thought it was great. Yes he is in Div 927. The second oldest guy in his TG. He said they call him a Delta Male. But that as far as his PFA goes he is running ,swimming and performing better than most of the 17 and 18 year olds! Way to go ! That's my boy! Not bad for 30, huh gang!? So very proud...or can you tell?
