Hope you do not mind this interruption from the Group ANSWER

 http://www.navyformoms.com/group/answer_adoptasailorwriteeveryrecruit.

Yet since your already talking about PIR & will be receiving  more mail & contact please read on.

If your SR is the religious PO then ask them. They tend to know who is getting mail or not. We would appreciate that.

In research, we have learned that nearly every Divsion/PIR group have some SR(s) that are not receiving any mail or may be in recovery and would truly appreciate & love more communication. If you hear from your/any SR about someone who could sure use some kind encouraging words. Please contact me by message or request to join as described below.

Should you not want to join the group yet have a name(s) for us to write. You do need to friend request me, Hunters_Mom by a PRIVATE message with the SR Name(s) & address.

To join and share, first;, friend Hunters_Mom. .Next, Request to join the groupAfter approval to join (may take a day or two) you can then compose a 'Send Message to Group’, with the envelope icon. You can then send the SR’s name and address privately by 'Send Message to Group’ ONLY, with any particular notes so we may offer correctly tailored words of support in a card, note, or letter to them.

Again, please do not post any SR names, address, information in or on ANY PUBLIC FORUM or even the comments section within our own groups.

All good stuff, Felicia

ColoradoConnie--the birthday is a great idea.  My son is divorced and has two little girls.  When he was in the Gulf and then in Afghanistan for two birthdays, I took pictures as we made cakes, decorated, lit the candles, sang.  Of course, in those situations, I was able to email pictures, but sometimes actual printed pictures are nice because they can get them out and look at them when they can (not necessarily when they want!).

On my way with the Patriot Guard Riders this morning to welcome home a 1Lt in the Airforce at the airport, but just as excited to meet up with a friend whose son was sworn in yesterday in the US NAVY!

Great birthday idea, ColoradoConnie!  Mine is stationed, and his birthday was just this week also.  He was in A School this time last year.  But lived away from home before that so we have missed several birthdays with him.  He is one who doesn't like a big deal made of his birthday...in fact, doesn't even want us to send him anything...so that makes it easier, but still....as his mom...we love to make a big to-do about our babies' birthdays...because they will always be our babies!   :-)

Happy birthday to mapes' son!! Shall we all sing for him? What a big step it must be, that first b-day away from home, Hugs to both you and your birthday boy!  Do you know any of his close friends? Maybe it is a bit late , but what about inviting them over, getting a cake with candles and have everyone where crazy, silly hats! Take pics and send them off to your son. Or if someone else has a kiddo with a birthday coming up you could try that . We did something similar when our son turned 21 and was Living on his own in Seattle, He got a big kick out of it Just Loved it!                                                                                                                                                                                            It is wonderful to see that slowly but surely the phone calls and letters are coming in! Your Joy makes me smile knowing it will be soon for my  family soon!

No, I just received my 2nd letter today also. No phone call yet. Today is my sons 23rd birthday.  I really want to hug him!  He says it is really tough but he is doing good in the physical part but did say that he does have a hard time with the memorizing.

Got 2nd letter from my son today.  Sounded alot better in this letter compared to first one.  It was Sunday when he wrote, and said he took so many things for granted before like a long shower, a phone, computer, etc.  He said keep the letters coming, he said 78, down to 60 now SEAL candidates crying from mail is a wierd experience.  Has anyone with a son in this division received a phone call yet?

Just an FYI~ I always see on here that the calls come in Area code 847 and mine came up aera code 402.  So make sure to answer all calls!  Don't want to risk missing it!
